She can also use the PTO shaft. Just remove the shaft at the universals at each end and then put the ends together with one UV joint.

The SSQA plate on mine is hinged at the top, the front rides on the nose wheel:

The hydraulic motor is fed with 3/4" hose, has the cushion valve built in and is direct coupled to the gear box:

The shear pin is also visible above.

Here is the gearbox, motor, mount and u-joint connection. This is prior to adding the skid steer plate. I turned the gearbox around to face the rear and keep the mower orientation forward.

My hydraulic brush cutter is driven directly by the motor. No gearbox in the mix. Just a lovejoy connector between the motor shaft and cutter hub shaft.

Yes, but that is the point. You'd need to buy a hub/spindle to mount to the mower deck anyway. I have the same setup on my high flow cutter. The blade doesn't connect directly to the motor shaft.

I just wonder if there's any power loss worth being concerned about by going through the gearbox VS direct. It may be a non-issue, but on my small machine, everywhere I can save efficiency is better.

Hello,
Several good pieces of info here.

Yes, you size the motor to go 500-600 rpm, torque is "what's left over", based on supplied pressure,
in the equation, it is what it is.

7' is gonna be a bit big to power with even a high flow, most are 60"-72" Bobcat did make a 2 blade 90"
model, but have never heard any reports on how they work.

FWIW, on my Bobcat 642, I only have 9.5 gpm, and I get along O.K. in brush, grass is what takes horsepower:

You'll note, to "save power" what little I have, I went with an open design, just cut it down, no mulching.
It has the Agri-supply 75 hp gearbox and stump jumper. No need to make up a spindle, heat treat it, cut splines etc. Just off the shelf components.

Also, the blades are set up for a 4' width, easy enough on a skid steer, to swing form l to r, to clear a bit
wider trail for the machine clearance.

Do you plan on closing your blades in eventually?? Seems dangerous epecially with everything getting blow around

I agree, I wouldn't have been anywhere near as close as your camera person was with that running.
