Electric motors - reliability - industrial applications - continuous service! Compared to a gasoline motor?

Aside from the prime mover other aspects of the drivetrain should parallel those of the ICE vehicle.

And no oil changes EVER.

There's the misdirect.

The assertion was that EVs across the US are mostly powered by hydrocarbons, if you live in the PNW(and a bunch of other places) that's not the case.

Or do you want to agree that in some areas EVs aren't dependent on carbon based power generation?

Even if the EVs were powered by 100% hydrocarbons they would use only about 75-80% less of them than ICE to travel the same distance. Hydrocarbons should be used to make more lasting stuff like plastics or whatever instead turning them into heat.

Take a look at the chart I referenced in post #811.

It shows California overall is only 50% hydrocarbon fueled. (plus some unknown fraction of the 14% of power purchased elsewhere for distribution here). If Elsewhere includes the PNW hydro plants then that 50% is likely valid for all power used in the state.

And California alone is such a huge energy market that it affects national averages.

Here's the chart (big pdf) for Sonoma Clean Power, my provider at the ranch. 77% Renewable and Hydro, 0% Hydrocarbon, 23% purchased from elsewhere so lets assume that Elsewhere runs 50% hydrocarbon (the statewide average for known sources). This works out to only 12% hydrocarbon fuel overall, at the ranch.

EV's make sense for the West Coast since they really do replace some portion of hydrocarbons. Places like Texas etc with inexpensive local oil widely used, aren't such a good match.

Ever notice when a global cooling/global warming/climate change/greenie is asked about the Medevel Warming Trend and the Little Ice Age . They conveniently get quiet or they change the topic.

Yup, still no comment from the Greenies about the Medevel Warming Trend nor the Little Ice Age .

What is wrong with using the national average for honest and accurate numbers ?
Local figures make more sense - more 'honest and accurate' to use your terms - when you want to analyze something for your own local use.

I read as far as 'Greenies and stopped. That's not a conversational tone, from you its adversarial.

You tell us what you are trying to say, don't expect us to guess.

Well the claim was that *all* EVs use a mostly hydrocarbons, which you *still* haven't responded to. In the PNW it's not the case but feel free to keep trying to move the goalpost somewhere else.
