Good Morning!
Ah, what a honor to post right after Lazarus (if I type fast enough). This morning thread sure starts early.

73˚ heading to 99˚ or with the spider web in my Acurite weather station keeping the solar fan from spinning it will surely show 112˚ again.

I'm going to the Tuesday's Farmers market to get some cucumbers and okra and whatever looks good and stop by and visit Dad.

My front fence line weed eating project got delayed a few days while I do chores for Mom and Dad. It looks like it will be fall before I complete it doing a few hours a week early in the morning only.

edit: typed too slow, 4th post after ED.

Good Morning!!!! 74F @ 6:30AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 94F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

You folks sure were busy over the weekend; seems like it took forever to catch up again.

And what a surprise our prodigal son Ed has returned!

Wish I had some words of encouragement for you and your Dad, Don, and you and your Mom, Top. I just hope they have more good days than bad, and perhaps that the doctors can figure out something that will help.

Irv did say that his new driving job would keep him off the board for a while, so it may be a case of "no news is good news".

Nice but hot ride to the coast and back, some very tasty meals, refreshingly cool breezes on our walk to dinner and back (2 miles each way, as the expected Uber ride didn't pan out:laughing:). Sunday as I closed in on home the thermometer on the handlebars hit 110F for a while; it was nice to have a 60 MPH wind in my face.

Finished a couple small machining jobs for the van yesterday morning before it got too warm out in the garage, then went through all the boxes of parts for the new bike. Got a list of needed items off to my friend in Chico to see if he can get them for me in a reasonable amount of time, otherwise they'll have to come from a specialty shop in Alabama. The good news is that they're still available, not bad for a 54 year old machine!

Got some puttering to do in the garage this morning, then another trip to the the mechanic's to hopefully finish the wiring on the van. With a little luck I'll get a battery installed and see what works, and maybe what doesn't.

Overnight low was 50*, the high yesterday was 83*. Did get a little rain in the evening not much. It will settle the dust some. Today's forecast is sunny with lite wind and the temp in the 90's.

The cows are back, I heard them down on the river yesterday. And there are some out on the road this morning. Only 3 more months of trying to miss them on the road.
Glad I put in the cattle guard two years ago, so I don't have to open and close the gate all the time. Did that for five years.

Going to try to get some more of the little stuff done today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

66°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 97° today. Looks like it's going to be right at or just over 100° all week here.

Carpenter has most of the framing done around the outside basement walls. Kind of at a standstill now waiting for the electrician to wire everything. He said he has a roof job to do this week ... and I certainly don't envy that. HVAC guys have been coming in and trying to work around the carpenter. He got the new furnace and AC compressor installed Friday, but only part of the new duct work. Wife asked me if there was any way we could connect the old and new so we could have air upstairs over the weekend. I grabbed some cardboard, a tape measure, and a knife, and fashioned a temporary joint. It actually worked so well that he reinstalled it at the new stopping point yesterday.

Good to read this morning that Ed is back with us.

68.4F and partly cloudy @ 09:20, supposed to be headed up to a high of 87F today ... which ended up being the high yesterday as well. Tomorrow we're headed up into the high 80's again ... all the way through Sunday. Chances of precip exceeding 50% start late Thursday/early Friday and continue through Sunday.

Did not get any spraying done yesterday. Instead I started the day off with filling the bird feeders and then doing a little pruning on the apple tree where it was hanging over the drive at the split between the driveway to the polebarn and house.

The Woman, who often uses the drive down to the polebarn to do a turn around of her van, had mentioned that the branches were starting to catch it. Also ended up pruning a number of other trees along the driveway. Doesn't take long for that pole saw to get heavy ... especially if it's extended out. The deer should have a field day with all the apples that got knocked down. Hopefully they leave the hosta buffet alone for a while.

After that I raked up the leaves in a small planting bed under a hawthorn on the east side and then started weeding a larger planting bed that's a little north of that ... and spent most of the rest of the day working on that. That's the one where I put down a bunch of wood chips as mulch (last year I think ?) The wood chips are working great at keeping the weeds down and the soil moist ... unfortunately, although I got probably 75% of the bed covered, I never got around to covering the area in the bed where most of the plants (azaleas, hostas, lilies of valley) were ... so it was pretty bad. Probably got 80% of it cleaned up and weeded. The hostas on the north end aren't doing nearly as well as those on the south end ... possibly not getting enough light, mebbe not enough water too ... dunno. Working most of the afternoon in the shade with a light breeze was very pleasant.

While we were doing that Zack came down with the Bobcat and moved some very large oak logs up in the wood yard. Had The Woman freaking out because they were large and heavy enough that it was tipping the Bobcat forward off the rear wheels. Don't know how he managed to get them moved but somehow he did. I don't recall asking him to do this, so I took it as a sign he probably has some jobs coming up and needed room to dump more chips or logs. I probably have a day's worth of loader work just moving all the chips that are up there to back side of the yard.

Spent the last part of the day hauling all the cuttings up to the burn pile and the weeds and leaves up to the compost pile. Slept like a log last night ...

Hope everyone has a productive and enjoyable day.

Upper 80's today, then 90's and predictions of 100 on the weekend, but that changes by the hour, hot at any rate. I can't really tell 99 from 101.

Gone camping for a few days.. nice relaxing trip (except for wildfire that was stopped about a mile from where we camped). The wind seemed to blow constantly which I am not a fan of, but kept us from getting too hot.

still need to unload truck and then back to mowing (after replacing belt)..
