The turbo didn't do it for me on paper either. Then I drove one! This is the only gas engine on the market that pulls like a diesel!

Yes. Just don't care for the look of the shorter bed, and the longer wheelbase rides better.

Ecoboost is where it's at for a gasser in my opinion. Only thing I don't like is not V8 sound but that's OK. I'll take this little torque monster any day! Well ok...unless I could afford to put twin turbos on a 5.0...which is a good motor as I had one in my last F150 (2011) and it was a good motor. The EB just does it with less drama.

The price of a new diesel today 50years ago you could buy a house!

50 years ago heck! I bought my place in 1995 for $37500. I've had several trucks since then that cost more. And none were diesels.

Lariat, super crew, 4x4, 6.5' bed, 3.5 ecoboost. Since I retired in December, we decided we don't need two vehicles anymore. I really thought I would get another Silverado and tried out the High Country. Very nice, but my wife liked the seat in the Ford better. Both are beautiful trucks. Details (and pics) to follow.

Congrats! Still love my '15 3.5 eco. Especially on cold winter days or when my back is just sore and those heated seats kick in!

I just picked up a new Silverado this week. I came close to buying a Ford but would have gone with the 5.0. It seemed like the simplest V8 on the market and I like simple. Didn't drive the Ecoboost as the turbo didn't do it for me. One thing I couldn't come to terms with on the Ford is the manual climate control on the XLT which seemed to have all the rebates.

I am very impressed with the Silverado so far. Seem to be getting up to 22 mpg when not towing. So far I haven't pulled my tractor but I have pulled my equipment trailer empty. It is a fairly heavy trailer. The 2017 seemed to do better than my 07 Silverado.

They are all nice trucks but they should be considering the cost.

Funny thing about the XLT, the heated seats (electric coils) seem to work a lot better than the air heated/cooled ones in the Lariat and above. Makes me glad I bought the "low end" model.

Sadly, a reasonably equipped F150 is more than I paid for my house in 2006.... A diesel would be close to $20k more than my 2900sqft house, acre of land and 2 story barn.

lol beat me to it. Ours was $10k more "as-is, where-is" foreclosure. Made it hard to accept the price of the truck and not live in it!

I just don't see the utility in a 5.5' bed -- crosses under the threshold of usefulness to me. But some people need them to fit in their garages (my truck stays outdoors, so I don't care about that).

I would have gotten an 8' bed if available with crew cab on my 2014 GMC, but 6.5' was as long as they offered. It's been a good compromise actually, and I have no real complaints. Can fit 8' lumber diagonally with the tailgate closed, and not even have to mess with tie-downs.
