best use for deer is to have them on the grill... with all the mighty hunters and gun owners around me, I haven't heard of one of them shooting
a deer. I've been waiting for a venison steak. It seems bird hunting is more in fashion here. Easier to haul out too...
Would be nice if they left the geese and ducks alone and blasted away at our expanding deer population.

Is taking your son out for his first hunt still a thing that happens? Kids sure need to learn gun safety.
When I read Field and Stream in the barber shop, that seems to be a recurring article, teaching one's son or daughter these skills.

Around these parts, we kill more deer with cars than guns. I myself retired my deerslayer S10 a few years ago. It had bagged more deer in it's lifetime, than me and my rifles.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 98F. Winds light and variable.

Silica is a lot harder than steel, and I wouldn't expect even hardened blades to last under those conditions, Don.

Pretty much finished up the wiring at the back of the van, then installed and connected the starter battery. No smoke, but then the wipers didn't work, either. No real surprise there, either, as the dash instruments aren't connected, and pretty much everything runs through there. Didn't expect the primer for the plastic glue needed for the fuel tank insulation to be delivered until next week, but it was waiting on me when I got home. So I'll get the insulation glued on this morning and take the tank back this afternoon; it's next on the install list and the engine/transaxel can't go in until it does. Still no engine; but mechanic sez he's picking it up today. Still no tranaxel, and no work on A/C, either. Time for another butt kickin'.

Good morning! Another hot day but looking in the forecast I see a 60% chance of rain Aug 3. Been doing a lot of running around for my parents. Looks like their ranching business will be slowly shutting down. They had a good go with it, 25 years part time, and 27 years full time after he retired. Without my brother, and now dad unable, its too much for me to handle, and there is no help available from the rest of the family. A good lessee is lined up ready to take over.

I did not know that, that explains a lot.

Ron the deck is ok just sand blasted, tough on the paint but the metal is not wearing. I use lots of grease each time on the front wheels of the "Z" to keep the sand flushed out.

The deck probably is wearing, but because the sand isn't hitting it as fast, it's not wearing as fast. I wonder if it wouldn't be worth while trying to coat it with automotive undercoating or maybe bed liner to keep it from being eaten through? How long do zero turn mowers last, anyway? Might be a race between the engine wearing out and the deck holeing through.:laughing:
