Well that did not work. I ran wires from battery to solenoid it kicked on for a second and died I will call dealer monday

Here are photos of the pto valve that I replaced. Apparently the loose fit of the solenoid on the shaft allows dirt or other debris in and this is the result. Does anyone know how snug the retaining bolt should be behind the solenoid.

Only evidence of a short in the solenoid was a small bump on the plastic cover.

The replacement valve shank is smooth and shinny.

FYI, when you order the new solenoid, it comes with a new valve. $140ish as I recall.

Is this a common way now to engage tractor pto's, wires, solenoids and fuses, dont sound like a good way to me, I prefer levers with direct engagement. If I blew a fuse engaging the pto, I'd probably blow a fuse to, good luck with the problem.

Common? Yes. and generally reliable - at least on your main brand colours - Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue. Not sure about Purple...

No there was none in. I sent power straight to solenoid it engaged then stoped

The implication is that you have two faults.

1.A fuse blows in the loom when the solenoid isn't even connected.

And

2.The solenoid won't maintain the 'pull' when it's fed direct power anyway. (Or the valve is not actuating).

Even if you replace the solenoid/valve combo as Danger did, you will still have a short-circuit in the loom to find.
