Wal-Mart meat!

I find that a hand full of wood chips will impart enough flavor in any meat to overcome the total lack of salt (which BTW is becoming more and more of a thing that will not hurt most people).

Yep. Cherry and apple are the favorites here

Alder chips are the preferred smoke flavor in this house, followed by apple. Nothing better for salmon than alder smoke on the grill.

I've never set foot in Wally world and hope to never in my lifetime. The wife loves it for some things, so I'll drop her off at the door and go a few blocks to TSC and while away the time until she sends me a text. Our beef is locally sourced through a friend and usually has had a name. If we run out, Costco is the next best.

MANY years ago I worked at a ski resort in the winter and packed mules in the summer. Budgets were tight and I lived on a lot of beans and quesadillas. I did discover that the Safeway would mark their meat down mid-week when there were fewer tourists. I'd buy a 2 pack of filet mignon steaks on Wednesday for like $3. Yeah, they were a bit brown in the package but they tasted great after a few minutes on my grill and washed down with a $5 bottle of red wine. Oh to be young again (sips on his anjeo tequila).

I haven't been in a Walmart for a long time, because my wife does the shopping.

But I just don't understand some people's deep seeded hatred toward them as a company.

They stock the exact same stuff that you can go elsewhere and pay more for? So are the fools the ones that shop at Walmart? Or the ones that go elsewhere and pay more?

I think it's called jealousy. Walmart is just too successful.

I'm not jealous, I'm happy. Their success afford them alot buying power. End result is some of that power let's them sell me things cheaper than I can get anywhere else.

I just don't get some people's mindset? Sure, they sell alot of "made in China" stuff. What store doesn't? I don't get hung up on that.

You honestly think the Colgate toothpaste, old spice deodorant, soaps and shampoos, are somehow different because I paid less getting them at Walmart?

Or the mobile and she'll oil and my oil filters I buy there are somehow different than getting the same stuff at Napa or AutoZone?

Or the Pampers diapers (when my kids were that age) are different?

I could go on, but it pointless to try to convince some. And the others....well you already know what I'm saying.

The reference to going to TSC while the wife shops.....sure I like TSC and all. But how is it any better than Walmart? TSC is like a harbor freight for tractors. Just about everything inside the store is made in China. But the worse part, if I buy their cheap China tools they ain't guaranteed like the Pittsburgh from HF

They step on the little guys and put them out of business and their anti union.

It's called free market.

No one is "stepping" on anyone. It's very beneficial to the consumer, to have the competition, as it keeps prices in check.

Unless the little guy can offer me something that big chain cannot.....why pay more? Just because it's the.little guy? Non-sense.

The market has evolved. Sometimes I shop the little local store that's 2 miles away. Not nearly the selection, and cost more. Bit if I need a quick loaf of bread or gallon of milk, it's worth paying for the convince.

If I need full on $300 worth of groceries, toiletries, school supplies, case of beer, some oil and filters, a new computer keyboard, bicycle for the kids, some shot shells for rabbit hunting, and a few hanging baskets for the grand parents.....name me one other store I can get that all in one trip?

Walmart is like a auto store, sporting goods store, gun store, grocery store, electronic store, etc etc all rolled into one. Just the way it is, and will continue to be. I personally like it alot better than having to make half a dozen stops to get the exact same stuff. So not only am I saving money, I'm saving time.

Who cares if they are anti union. I wouldn't call myself anti union....but I certainly wouldn't call myself pro-union either.

Unions are becoming a worthless expense. All they do is protect the lazy worthless workers and make it difficult for companies to terminate them and get someone who actually cares. Show up, do your job, and you would be much better off without a union.

I know many companies, that through mergers, buy-outs, etc have some union and some non union locations. Guess which ones get paid better and have better retirement/benefits? And guess which ones are the first to get shut down come crunch time?

Sorry jack, just the world we live in. If you want mom and pop shops, no national chains of anything, and union power, Perhaps you were born 50-60 years too late? But I think we are a lot better off now than we were 50 -60years ago.
