I am closing in a carport off the back of my garage to keep my tractor and am trying to decide what kind of door to put on it. The height on the low end is a little over 7 1/2 ft and the high end is about 9 ft. I have a 1025r. Ideally I would rather not have to put the ROPS down every time I go in because I know I will forget about it one day. The entire front of the carport is currently open so it is 12 ft wide. I thought about putting sliding barn style doors on it or french style doors. I also haven't completely ruled out a 9x7 garage door and just keep the ROPS down.

I'm just curious if anyone has any suggestions before I decide. The other sides will all be vinyl sided so I would need to do something with the doors (if other than garage doors) to make them look decent with the siding.

I appreciate your input! And pictures are appreciated!

Can you raise the carport by putting it on blocks and gain more height for a taller door?

No. The one side is attached to the garage and the other has 3 6x6's cemented in the ground.

Seems too tight for a roll up or garage style door to get enough height for your ROPS. I can't think of a slider that would work from your description. What about two swing doors that get taller in the center to max out your height? Kind of like French Doors, but shaped to match the opening?

How wide is the opening?

A couple inches over 12 ft but I can make the opening smaller if need be. I'll just put another 6x6 in the ground to make it the desired width.

The lowest end is high enough to fit the tractor with the ROPS up so a sliding door would work. A garage style door will be too low. I don't know enough about a roll up door to answer that. I may look into one of those.

So how about a 8' wide sectional or roll up on the high side? Would that give you the height to enter without the ROPS going down? In other words can you drive in now without lowering the ROPS? If so, you should be able to with an 8' wide door.

I appreciate your input and ideas. It is helping me think of options/ways to make this work. The problem with using the high side for the door is that the high side is against my existing garage. A rolling door could work if I made it the entire width of the front. Due to the layout of my land and the location of the furnace in my garage, the oil tank is located in the enclosure on the high side. I know it sounds like I didn't think this completely through when I built the carport but I built it as big as I could go and as high as I thought I could and still keep a decent pitch for rain and snow. Once I built the carport, I decided it would be really nice to close it in. That is where I am at now.

The roll up doors are really pretty reasonable priced. Do a web search. Especially if you can find one of the dealers that has a factory or distribution center near you so you can pick it up and avoid shipping which can get expensive. If you can frame it for one of the standard sizes they offer you can save even more, but custom cit sizes aren't a lot more.
