Okay I give. What is trailer A?

I do not care for trailers with an upper rail, If you purchase something be it lumber or pallets of anything if a trailer has side rails it can't very well be loaded from the side.
I much prefer a flat deck unit for side loading and unloading. With a good stake pocket and stakes materials that might roll, logs, pipes ect. can still be side loaded and unloaded.
Pick up a fork lift loaded bundle of 2x6's, then just pull them off from the side as needed. A pallet of wood pellets or coal sacks, easy to side load and unload.

I hear that.

My 16' tilting deck has a 6" steel lip around the edges. Drives me nuts. Have to stack 2 pallets in the deck if I want to load or unload anything with my pallet forks. My 22' replacement tilting deck I'll be getting here within a year will NOT have any lip to rail blocking the sides, probably even front. Just causes way to many problems.

When I replaced my 3500 # axles on my trailer, I looked at 5000# axles. But I would have had to reweld the spring hangers because the 5k axles had longer spring then the 3500. Does the 5000 and the 7000 have the same spring length that one just needs to replace springs and axles on trailer A to get a 14k trailer? Just wondering. Jon

Why not trailer C?

I would not buy a trailer with 15" tires period.

The ramps being on the same side would drive me nuts.

I don't know about your area but here within an hours drive I can see about ten different brands of trailers. Go find one that has everything you like and nothing you don't. There are plenty out there don't compromise.

There was a trailer "C" but I already eliminated it from the equation since it was only $79 more than A but the paint was rusting already.

Trailer "A" is by Texas Trailer Supply in Spring (Houston).

Trailer "B" is a BigTex also made in Texas up toward Dallas.

A

- agree on 15 inch 6 ply tires have no place on a 10k trailer

8 lug 16 inch 10 plys check the load rating on those 15" tires and add them up to compare with the same from the 10 ply 16's

the quote about the strength of the trailer frame itself, sounds like option B is a glorified car hauler- How about some pictures, we love pictures , even of trailer choices...

ps the springs on A don't have a pivot?? how do the axles track uneven ground to keep the weight equalized on each individual tire?

I did not see a pivot and he said there wasn't one.

The 15" tires are load rated at 2540 lbs so they almost cover the 10,400 lbs rating for the axles and thus the 10k rating of the trailer.

Ok what about D or E? There are tons of trailers on the market don't compromise. Most people keep trailers a LONG time don't get one that isn't exactly what you want. You will regret it.

Wow- those tires -not counting tongue weight would limit your actual load to about 7000lbs. assuming the trailer is at least 3000lbs.
Many E rated 16 inch trailer tires are rated for over 3500lbs. each so It is possible to get to a true (load ) rating of 10,000

jmo but agree with looking for a (new) option C trailer
a 10 K trailer that Has a load rating of 10 k ,
16 inch load range E tires and either 6 or 7k axle's with a pivot

I think they are fudging things calling ( B ) a 10k trailer.

somebody must be able to paint a new trailer and do a decent job

I priced a similar trailer a few days ago.

Mine was a 20' x 83" with a 2' dovetail, a 4' tailgate (which is to load lawn mowers and such) and 2 - 7000 lb axles.

It is a TopHat brand which is also made in Texas. Top Hat Trailers - Online Catalog

My price was about $4600 which included tax and title. That would put it around $4100 before taxes.

Adding the heavier axles (7000 lb vs. 6000 lb) was a $75 option. Adding the dovetail was a $75 option.

The dealer would have to order the trailer as I want it and said there would be a 4-5 week delivery time.

My point is......You should consider ordering the exact trailer you want or need. The upgrade options are not very expensive and a 4 week wait will be nothing, if you plan to own the trailer for many years. I custom ordered my last trailer and I'm very happy that I did.
