I have had the machine for a little over a year, not a bad machine, but do not use it like I thought I would. More mowing than anything.

I need to get a rough idea of what I could sell it for private party. The machine is the B2601 with quick attach bucket, 54" mid-mount mower and grass catcher. About 40 hours only..... I think the total is about $23,500 if I bought today before any rebates.

I think if I attempt to sell today, I will take a big hit. What is a reasonable expectation if I sell private party? I am in Massachusetts if that makes a difference.

The dealer told me to hold on to it for another year, as the depreciation has already occurred and would be minimal between now and then. He said try and sell it in a year or so.

I don't understand the dealer's logic. If you don't use it - sell it. Maybe he has a concern that your current model will compete with his new equipment.

You are going to take a haircut on this machine, but you know that.

I see new machines on tractorhouse with loader and mower AND single axle trailer for 20,500. Take off a grand for the trailer and that is 19,500.

Then, there's this one:

TractorHouse.com | 216 KUBOTA B261HSD For Sale

I think you are somewhere in the mid-teens. Let's say 15 to 18 grand. I hope I'm wrong, but that is what I'd be trying to buy it for if I were looking.

Yes, that was what I was afraid of. I did see that listing and it is close to me as it is in VT.

I think the dealer's line of thinking is that I could sell it now for mid-teens or sell it in a year and get pretty much the same, as the tractor has slowed on the depreciation curve. Certainly, I will see what I can get for it, but will probably hold onto it if the value is that low. I definitely don't want to give it away.

Does it have a loader? $23,000 sounds awful steep for tractor with no loader.

Yes, it has the loader with quick attach bucket, 54" MMM and grass catcher. I built in on the Kubota website and just came up with $22,400 before any rebates or discounts. Not sure how I came up with $23k above :drink:

I haven't actually run the numbers, but it's my impression my 2016 (purchased Jan 2017) BX2370 resale is about the same whether it's 2-days old and 2hrs or 3yrs old and 150hrs.

I bought and sold a Kubota BX1860 and a Kubota B2320. Didn't lose anything but the sales tax, which you never get back. Every area is so very different. Around here, a good, clean Kubota, less than 3 years old, with sub 100 hours, barn kept? Normally returns your money. Again, every area is different. One thing to always take into consideration is whether the original purchase was a good buy or not. There can be as much as $2000-$3000 between purchases made on the same Kubota from one dealership to another. I'm assuming Mass is the state and I'm completely uninformed on both retail prices and re-sale prices common to that area.

How much did you pay for it?

In Mass they do not discount very much. I paid $22,400 less whatever the rebates were at the time. I can't remember if it was $500 or $1k.

Right, I think that's why the dealer says to hold on to it for a while, then sell it down the road. he thinks I will get the same now at 40 hours vs at 100 or 150 hrs.
