How do you organize your tools in tool boxes? need suggestions

And for you "pegboard aficionados" how do you keep the pegs from falling out when you pull a tool off? I've tried the little clips and they pull off also. I've got about 40 feet x 4 feet of pegboard storage. Some of it here:View attachment 519675

I built an upright toolbox years ago for all my wrenches and such. They take up so much drawer space to lay them out so I came up with this.

The panels are double sided peg board with a gap between and the holes shifted so they dont interfere with the opposite side.



As for the majority of my tools, they just lay in drawers. The cut out foam can help for certain things.

I had the opportunity last year to make a slight upgrade to my tool storage with a Lista storage wall system. Can hardly tell this thing is around 25 years old. Still working on organization.

Cheap outdoor carpet from lowes etc makes a decent drawer liner. Not as non skid as the rubber stuff, but things still tended to slide around on that too.

Also note the plastic socket trays. These are fantastic. You can see whats missing, the sizes are easy to read on the tips of the pegs, and you can take the tray to the project

This foam is specifically made for things like this. It's multi-layered, easy to cut to depth of tools, and peel out in layers. It's also pretty darn inexpensive.

Here's my results....

Moss... looks like you have worked in a surgical unit of a Hospital... the Craftsman Boxes are lined with foam and cutout to fit the essentials...

For my home tool box I have bought sockets that come in molded cases and used the band saw to cut the case dimensions to fit the drawers... has worked real well and always know if something is missing.

Ok, that slide out vertical drawer is brilliant. I gotta figure out how to incorporate that somewhere. The drawer within a drawer is also very cool. Hmmm.....drawing my inner organizer out.

I need to get organized and find my 9 keyed alike master locks. Bought 2 20 ft. truck boxes to keep my stuff in. Wanted a steel shipping container, but bought the truck boxes from a county sale. Maybe one person I would loan tools to. I say maybe because he never asks.

For your wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers and the like, buy a Montezuma tool box. I have one mounted on my flatbed truck. Real handy to keep track of tools and see what you're after.
