The Colorado river at Lagrange Texas is flowing over 80,000 cfs. Holy Cow! Evacuations in lower areas around Lagrange are mandatory. Prayers for all in this horrible flood/storm. Here in Giddings, we've had over 20" of rain and it is still coming down in bucket loads. Under flash flood watch probably for 3 more days. The "eye" has moved back over to Victoria. Victoria needs prayers. They have no power, and the city has shut the water system down for whatever idiotic reason. Can't flush a toilet, can't shower, no power. And all the power poles are leaning over needing replaced. It may take weeks to get all back on power. Thankfully, they are not flooding too much. Houston is under water. Folks need to get to higher ground and fast!
I love bass fishing at fayette county.

This is going to be as taxing on Americans (S.E. Texans) as it gets...after the flood waters subside the affected folks will be facing weeks (if not longer) of an entirely different way of life...shortages of fuel, electrical outages disruption of regular services etc., etc...

At least Texans have strong hearts and reason...unlike states to the far north and east...!

I haven't read all the posts and this may have been mentioned before. The news is covering the cities, but what about the farmers and ranchers? How long can a cow tread water?

The cotton crop across the road is under water. About 40 acres. Another 30-40 acres down the road is also lost. Most fields were cleared of corn in july, and the cotton harvest was coming to a close.

Most of the ranches are wet, but cows are fine. The grazing land near the rivers near us is being cleared and cows being moved to higher ground. Fortunately, we have had a couple good years of hay production, so there is an ample supply/stockpile.

Situation may be different further inland. We are south of Houston, about 45 miles inland from the coast.

Be it livestock, pets, wildlife...Animals are always a concern during and in the aftermath of natural disasters...I believe all living things have some type of soul so pray for them...

Colorado river at Lagrange now at over 90,000cfs. Flood stage is 26 ft and it is at about 46.5 feet. 20 flipping feet over flood stage.

Thank God that many have taken it upon themselves to take their boats to Houston for rescue. Any jet boat or low water flat bottom type boat can be used.

Third largest city in USA, most important city economically in USA, and mainstream media is not covering flooding story live.

I thought TWC was doing a pretty good job. Networks have regular programming and about 300 million people who don't give a squat about Texas.

"Oh look, Martha, it's raining."
"Still? How much longer will it rain, John?"
"About five days. What's on TV?"

My brother and his wife live in Montgomery, N of Houston. They were in MA visiting relatives when the storm hit. Their flight into Houston was cancelled. Their car is at Hobby and may have been flooded.

Right now they are considering renting a car and driving back. Apparently their house is OK.

Harvey part 2 underway here. Yesterday was a rainy day. The eye passed by us yesterday evening and it was calm. Torrential rain and high winds picked up again early a.m., and we are back to trip. Storm conditions. No work indefinitely. Office building is flooded and has no power. Closed until at least Wednesday, maybe beyond.
