A question for those who open carry

I wouldn't open carry simple because I don't want the looks or grief from anti gun people. Indiana has a life time permit for like $100. So done and done.

What looks or grief? I've OCd for over 6 years now, I can count the number of negative comments on two fingers. Man up and stop letting professional victims and/or chicken littles determine how you run your life.

Both points of view are valid...Open Carriers in PA were harassed until the lawsuits started...open carry being a right in PA. As I rarely OC, I'm not one to criticize another person who refrains from open carrying.
On the other hand, the more folks who do carry a pistol openly, the more comfortable others will become with seeing a gun on the hip.

IMHO, it also depends on where you're carrying...rural areas, I doubt if you'd hear any squawking. Urban areas, the snowflakes would, undoubtedly, lose their minds. In fact, one anti-gun organization (won't name it) suggests calling the cops if a person is carrying openly. Granted, that's harassment...something I don't think most LEO's want to deal with, but they have to respond.

You guys spend too much time in town.

Within the last few years there have been several instances were break ins in very rural areas have become the thing to do to steal from elderly people. thieves have figured out it's a pretty easy thing to do. locally thieves have done so and a few times have killed the home owner. The length of time it takes for a LEO to get to a 911 call where I live can be an hour so there are many unsolved killings because of it. People here call 911 and tell the operator to bring a hearse, don't bother with the ambulance. Personally I have loaded shotguns within reach at all times, With any luck a would be intruder will reconsider when they see my 100lb German Shepherd and if not, well, that will be there own mistake.

I have seen many people mowing there lawn, walking the dog etc with a gun on there hip because of it and I don't blame them.

Probably took advantage of the homeowner being off guard due to the storm, or so he thought..
