The Shell Donax TD that's on the list has changed to Shell Spirax md/s4txm about two years ago. An easy hydraulic fluid to get is from Tractor Supply. Their "Premium" Hydraulic fluid is a multi viscosity fluid and meets the specs. Other members have used it with good results. That's what I'm going with on my next change. I have been using Rotella 5W-40 full synthetic engine oil year round because I can go from single digits in the Winter to 80 plus in the Summer. Enjoy the new toy.

Some TSC stores stock the Rotella T HD tractor and transmission fluid. It is Donax TD Spirax S4 TXM oil.

I have my 400 hr service to do, and haven't decided what I'm going with yet. Trying to decide between Mystik jt5 or the Traveller from TSC

I am also heavily leaning to the TSC travelers hydraulic fluid. Seems to be a fair price and easy for me to get local.

Does anyone else run a 5w-40 synthetic or similar year round instead of changing for the seasons?

I've used TSC travelers premium for 300 hours on 2 different Dk45se's so far. I plan on using the same for the 400hr on both tractors. Easy to get local for me, and the price is right.

I live where the winters get cold.

I run 0/40 year round.

There is no problem with that, nor would there be with 5/40.

I imagine a 0w40 must be readily available locally in Northern Alberta eh?

Yes, I run Rotella T-6 synthetic 5w-40 year round and have been for the past 16 years - 2000+ hours

I use Mobil One turbo diesel truck 5w-40. Year round. No issues.

I'm also due for a engine oil change, thinking of going with the Rotella synthetic this time, I've have always used the standard 15-40 Rotella before.

This!
I use it in my Ford F-150, Woodmizer mill/Kohler engine, Motorcycles, Vespa scooter AND my Kioti tractor. It is a very popular oil.
Buy it on sale, get the rebates then do the cap codes for points. I get enough points alone, to eat out at Red Lobster free once each year. Walmart. It's so popular at wally I have resorted to web buying then store pickups as the shelves remain empty.
lets hope this doesn't hang on to become the dreaded you know what...

I'm going to switch over to the Tractor Supply premium next change. I used Shell Spirax last time. It is hard to find in stores so I had to go to a distributor. It sill cost me $88 for 5 gallons. Crazy.

I use Shell Rotella T6 for the engine year round and the TSC premium hydraulic fluid for the trans and front end. No issues with either and plan to stay that way.

Thanks for all of the input on fluids. Filters have been ordered and will pick up the fluids next week. Just need to find the time after that.

What are y'all using for a drain pan for the hydraulic fluid?

A 5 gallon bucket. I syphon what I can, and I have to put the plug back in at least one time during the drain down. Mine holds 16 gallons.

Rotella T6 can't go wrong. Find it on sale at Wally World and buy up a couple of changes ahead of time. I change my oil & filter every 75 hours which typically coincides with my yearly use.

I use a big plastic "tote" . It holds a bit over 10 gallons. It is hella heavy to drag out from under the tractor, but it holds it all. I use a smaller drain pan for the front differential drains near the front wheels, and you can use a smaller one also for the rear final drive drains on each side near the rear wheels. They are about a gallon each as I remember. But for the big drain plug in the middle of the transmission, You don't want to be trying to change containers, as that stuff comes out with a whoosh. Providing you remove the fill plug up top to allow air in quickly. So that is 5 drain plugs to get and two reservoirs to refill.
