Might touch 80 today for the first time in a couple of weeks, but they said that the last two days and 73 was the high. Still have lingering clouds from Irma, thankfully that's all we got.

Happy anniversary Mr & Mrs bakerG ! Gary, did I miss the post where you told us how you came to meet that special girl over 30 years ago ?

Met her in a bar June 1, 1985, she was there to meet a friend that never showed up because her boyfriend was in an accident, now cell phones back then to let my wife know. I saw her sitting at a table alone and so being a gentleman I am I bought her a drink. Went out a few time but did not work out. Met up with her again in the same bar on December 12, 1986, asked her to go with me to my brothers wedding on December 13th, and the rest is history, married her September 12,1987.

Good morning! 62˚ heading to 90˚ light SW breeze. I'll go for a rest day also Ron. Just a few catch-up things to do. This is the kind of day when unforeseen projects seem to pop up. You never know what the day holds.

Yesterday I tried to take a pic of a baby fox stalking some of my neighbors cats but he took off before I got the pic. He wasn't much bigger than the cats, I'm thinking he just wanted to play.

You never know what the day holds. :

Aint that the truth. Like last fri night when i went to a HS football game, and could barely walk when lt was over. Never sit behind someone with a folding stadium seat. Course they came after we got there. I had no leg room, so sat funny in the seat. I had pain in the back by halftime. I moved to another seat where i could stretch, but the damage was done. We won 56-0.

60 this morning and headed to 63 today as we get more rain from Irma. So far about a half inch just been light and steady.

Have to get out this morning and go locate a cow. Found her last night about dark. But lost her again in some very heavy brush. I think she has a calf in there. If so it'll be number 2 for the year. IMG_1264.JPG here's the first one.

Morning all,

My laptop has been on the fritz 8/31 and I'm still fighting with it. Wife says just go buy a new one.

The hurricanes have been rough, but OMG Montana and Oregon are burning up and there is nothing on the news. :(

Nothing much going on here. Hope and pray all of y'all are OK.

Be well,
David

Good Morning!!!! No idea what the current temperature is, as Wundergound refuses to report it on either laptop display. Partly cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 83F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Had to go to the Hourly view to get the day's forecast. How does that make sense? At least the high for the day will drop into the low 80s, almost ten degrees cooler than yesterday and twenty lower than Monday.:cool2:

Happy Hump Day folks!

The low this morning was 45*, not sure of the high yesterday. Today's going to be partly cloudy with a chance of showers later. The wind is going to be in the 15-20 mph range.

buckeyefarmer. Hope everything works out for you. One of the neighbors I have been helping has been out of work since April. He has lost about 40 pounds and has picked up limp when he walks. Workmen's comp had him try stuff before they said ok to a operation. But he isn't having that done till December.
I can see the the pain that he is in. I hope that yours gets better and you don't have the problems that he has had.

Getting a new internet connection today. And cleaning up from working on the deck are plans for today

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB

62°F and cloudy this morning, going up to a whopping 72° today. We'll be back in the low 90s by the weekend.

Ran into a little light rain on the way home from work yesterday, and it struck me as curious how these gentle clouds and light rain were all that was left of what was just a few days ago the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean. I remember that same odd thought when we got rains from hurricane Katrina. We got a lot more rain from that one, though.

Started making up a checklist of things to review on our final walk-through with the electrician this weekend. I'm liking this light at the end of the tunnel (pun intended).

70ーF and no rain

Glad to hear Irma was less destructive than forecast, still traumatic though.

Anyone ever play with the PDF version of the USGS MAP sheets? I did a bit yesterday creating a topographical overlay on aerial pic of my property.

Hmmmm can't attach PDF :( or maybe it did :)

Be safe
Have a great day

The .pdf attachment downloaded and opened just fine on the Mac, David. What link did you use to create it?

Do you know more than the girl at tractor supply? Neither of us knew if this was a battery LOAD tester. Is it a battery load tester?

Google, looks to be a load tester

RNG. If you mean the USGS file I dl and opened on my MacBook using Preview to open and grab the map portion. Imported both map portion and photo files into a blank Numbers spreadsheet where I could play with opacity and scaling. Save out as PDF. Took about 15 minutes, but I wasn't trying for a particular scale, just close match.
Used the safari TBN to import the PDF.

Back in 2003 when we bought the property, I spent hours creating a file with the topo overlay of my survey using a copier, printer, clear sheets. PITA. I was still in Atlanta at the time brainstorming what if on the property.

The write up on their web site says it's a battery tester, but it isn't big enough to be a load tester. The resistor needed to dissipate the heat generated during a real load test is about four times the size of that little bitty box. I use one of these and it gets HOT!

500 Amp Carbon Pile Load Tester

When you charge a battery, then read it with a volt meter, what you're seeing is "surface charge". Hooking up a headlight bulb and running it for a few minutes will burn off the surface charge and give you a more realistic reading. But a real load test is a much better indicator of a battery's condition, as the ability of the battery to produce substantial current flow, similar to when starting an engine, is what is being measured and tested.

David, I have pictures sent to me from friends driving from Delaware to Washington, and they got into Bozeman last night.
Said the smoke had been bothering them for days, all the way back to Minnesota.
The pic they sent showed a haze everywhere.
