No, do not expect to be inconvenienced every 40 hrs for a full/forced regen. Will you have decreased power when a passive regen takes place? Yes. Run the RPMs up a little higher and continue what you're doing; for me this is really no issue, other than having a slight anxiety attack as I see a red light on the dash and then have to focus and decipher what it is. Like I said, I believe that I've only ever had one full, forced(?) regen. I cannot say when that had last happened, but I've now got 215 hours in which case the average occurrence so far is once in 215 hours:D (could happen the very next time I run the tractor! but that would average out to say once every 100 hours or so) If that light isn't coming on then the dealer should be forced to resolve THAT issue, and dealing with this issue might, I reckon, expose what's really going on here with regens. Something in your regen system is not right: and I doubt it's only a light issue. Force the dealer to deal with this, but maintain a cooperative stance (you're both in this together).

So, go out and use your machine. If it works then keep using it. If there's an issue get the dealer to get you working (properly).

Thanks. Good to know that you also experienced decreased power through the regen. How could my dealer not know that?
As far as the regen "warning" light not coming on, the dealer said that it's because the soot level was not high enough to trigger it (but high enough to eventually trigger the auto regen). As much as I'd like to believe that, it just doesn't seem right to have massive black smoke coming out and call that an average soot level.
I'll keep using it and see what happens.

Here's a picture of the label affixed on the inside of the cab that instructs on regens.

How often are you guys seeing the regen where the tractor has to be parked? I'm looking at buying one of these tractors and the winters are long and cold here in Fairbanks Alaska. I plan on using the tractor for plowing snow during the winter and not sure how that will effect the DPF. I would also make a winter front cover for it to help it run warmer. Any thoughts? Thanks

As I mentioned in an earlier posting, I've only had one instance where it's went into full regen mode (park it and wait). Can't recall exactly how many hours I had, but I now have 218 hours (and only that one occurrence). Based on my experience it's really not an issue. Soot formation is highest when running at low RPMS (idling) or when cold. If you make sure to allow the passive regens to happen that too should reduce the occurrences of the full regens. EricTheOracle (forum member) installed a warmer t-stat in his NX; I think believe he said that this helped. I'd talk to dealers to see what they say, as they're more familiar with your environment: you can also make sure to voice concerns prior to any purchase and hold their feet to the fire if things deviate significantly from what you're told.

The sticker on the regen must be on the later NXs , mine didn't have one, and the Manual does not cover the process very well. I had a issue right around 100 hrs or so, mine was smoking white upon start up and would do so for about 45-60 seconds pretty bad. Dealer had me trying a few different things to see if we could figure out why but finally it started flashing for a park regen , before a park regen was able to be done the Check engine light came on and the tractor went into limp mode. Dealer had to do a update flash of the Ecu and said it was a problem with the programming not regening correctly. I now have almost 500 hrs with no issues, and no other park regens needed, all have been passive. I would defiantly talk over any modifications with your dealer first, Eric did several things to his and for some reason they voided his warranty. He has never told the whole story , just says they will not tell him why, but that's a whole other story. As for the passive regen, if you don't see the light on, hard to see in bright sunlight, you wouldn't even know it's doing its thing.

I've never had to perform a parked regen, ever, with over 250 hours on the tractor. Winter weather here only hits the low 20's, and I ran over the drive with the boxblade just to see if the cold was an issue...nope!

Thanks for the info and it will drop down as low as -40 here in Fairbanks. Most of the time it will be-20 or above when it snows.
