Is the rubber seal under the cap?

My radiator shroud was very close to my belt. I actually too pliars and bent the shroud where the belt is close to keep from chaffing. I didn't pay attention to before so I am not sure as to if it went farther back?

The disk I use is listed in my signature line. It's maybe 400 pounds and I pile several hundred on top. My ym2000 similar to 1700 can pick up about 700 pound finish mower but it's light up front and I have about 150lb up front.

No seal, guess that's what's missing. Yeah when I picked up those discs, picked them up fine but let the clutch go and did a wheelie! I need some weights upfront!

There's no gasket under the cap on either of my Yanmars and I've never seen them slosh fuel out. I think if you stop filling before there's fuel in the neck, its a non-issue.

You need a little air gap between the cap and the neck. If the cap is sealed tight the tractor will stall after an hour or so because fuel is no longer going down to the pump. That vacuum can also crush the tank.

Makes sense, I'll throw a rag up there or something and leave the cap alone.

One more question. Should the hydraulic valve under the seat always be left open? If it is open, should my lift arms stay up when I shut the tractor off? Lift works perfect, just asking for knowledge on how it all is supposed to work.

I cannot thank y'all enough for all of the help!

Leave that valve under the front of the seat open forever. It is only to make a safe work environment for someone who has to crawl under a raised rear implement, to oversimplify a little.

Your arms should ideally stay up but even on a new tractor its not unusual for them to gradually settle down, overnight perhaps. These things are all 35+ years old so if it settles down over time in hours, its not significant.

Gotcha. Mine stay up, was just curious if they were supposed to.

Do you use a bottom plow or anything on new ground first? Or just keep going over it with those? Any weight on top?

I don't have a bottom plow, on new ground I run the disc many times back and forth and diagonally. I have 100 lbs of weight on. I also have about 160 lbs of weight on front.

I have changed the lift cylinder o ring on mine it helped but if I shut my tractor off with say the bush hog in the air, in 15 to 20 mins in will be on the ground. Its my valve is worn. The lockout closed it will stay up. I have replaced all the orings that can be in the valve and no luck, it is what it is, when tractor is on there is not an issue, that thing bugs me but I do not leave implements in the air and if I did to work on them I would have it blocked up or something anyway so I could not be crushed.

I guess I misspoke, the gasket I believe is on the strainer under the cap if I remember right, I can look when I get home. It have a little gap spot on the top so that air can go into the tank, that's where a lot of new guys have a problem pulling fuel, they he man put on the cap and it gets an air lock as the cap pressed down into that rubber and even with that cut spot in the gasket it compresses it down and it will not allow air into the tank.

Ah yes, post a pic of everything if you can please. Strainer, cap, cut-out, o-ring, etc. It makes a mess when this happens so I need to figure it out!

Cool, thanks! Sounds like I can get by with just a good set of discs then!
