Old Yanmar owner whos looking at a new Yanmar, I have questions?

well, I stopped by the Toro dealer (yes, toro dealer here is selling yanmar tractors) I asked him about the 45 hp he has sitting out on the yard. He priced it at 35K.

I asked if they could ,or would plumb the tractor for a grapple. He said, what is a grapple ?

WOW !! You don't even know what a grapple is ? My bet is, you don't know much about the yanmar tractor you're selling either.
After I explained what a grapple was. He said, Oh, we aren't set up do do anything like that !


Is the type people yanmar is letting sell their tractors ?

I can't pay top dollar for a tractor the dealer knows nothing about !

I went to the Yanmar dealer in Caldwell Idaho today to look at the 235 and 359. Thats close to Boise. The price here for the 359 is $38,500. The 235 with a cab is $29K.its a demo with 40 hours on it. the 359 is new.

Wow, beautiful place you have there! When you move up to the YT3 series you really get a lot more like the iHMT transmission which puts down more power than a HST, two rear remotes standard, built in third function switch, and a number of other things. They're the most advanced CUT's on the market today. Well worth the price IMO.

Since I am new I have little knowledge outside of typical tractor use, IE snow, loader, forks, ect. But since I own usable land and have water and could use another income I am looking into tractor uses to justify this large purchase. That said, can anyone tell me about what implement to use as a mini swather to go with a smaller baler to cut my intermediate what grass for winter feeding of animals. I live in cattle country and am considering eventually raising some cattle, say 20-40 head as my land will support that. I currently least out my land 2-3 weeks a year which pays me a few bucks and allows me to be ag exempt.

But I own a lot of unused grass that I could cut, bale and save for feed. We are also considering a large orchard as well. We are just wanting to make sure I dont buy a large tractor that sits most of its life.

If you are going to feed cattle in the winter. You are going to need some serious hay . Cattle can go through some hay quickly during winter months
if you are going to bail hay, you need to be looking at the haying equipment and see what hp ratings that equipment requires ..
People around me that bail hay have between 80 -100 hp tractors

I like the 359 but Im trying to justify the need currently. Every dollar I spend on a tractor is a buck not going into the home build and since its out of pocket, it all counts. Plus Yanmar originally told me they had a zero down zero interest plan going, which is the same as Kubota. But once I was there, its zero down and 5.75 percent. I just spent a couple of hours on my 2210BD and moved some gravel around and in tight spaces. Spaces I WONT be able to get to with a bigger tractor.

I could currently afford the 359 with no issues and my snow blower but no other implements at this time. So with out the other implements, whats the use. I mostly worried about snow this winter. Yanmar will give me 6K for my old tractor. That saves me $100 a month.

Im still trying to see if I want the payment. If I were rich I would buy away!!!!!!!!!

@Rumblon- where are you located, roughly? Is snow a continual/yearly issue, or a once a decade problem? I'm also curious what condition your 2210 is in. I've got an old YM240D which I'd consider trading in if the trade value were decent. My old yanni is dependable as all get-out, but not very pretty.

I bet the 0% really isn't 0%. I just bought a Kubota Z turn diesel mower. They told me 0%, but it would cost me about $200.00 more for the 0% financing. My bet is , you could buy the tractor cheaper with cash
