@Rumblon- where are you located, roughly? Is snow a continual/yearly issue, or a once a decade problem? I'm also curious what condition your 2210 is in. I've got an old YM240D which I'd consider trading in if the trade value were decent. My old yanni is dependable as all get-out, but not very pretty.

Wooley Im in Cambridge Idaho. I have been here for four years but bought this 175 acres 14 years ago. I typically get a few feet a year and maybe a foot each time or less but last year we got pounded. I had five feet here for a long time and I plowed continually. And my little tractor isnt cut out for it.

I came from the northern Nevada are near Lake Tahoe and worked in Tahoe and in the high mountains in the sierras so I am used to the snow. JUST wanted to leave the serious snow behind.

I keep going back and forth on these tractors and was also looking at Kubotas. The Caldwell Yanmar dealer is REALLY pushing the 347, which is the same tractor as the 359, just 12 HP less. Since I have decided not to bale hay, he claims this is a great tractor for my needs. The 347/ 47 HP is priced at $34,600. The 359 is at $38,500. Do you guys think the extra 12 HP is worth the $3900?

I will be using a snow blower, a rotary mower, a tiller, forks and a post hole digger. I am
The have quoted me the following prices for each implement. I am waiting for specs, size and brand name for each implement. I already own a post hole digger. I have to finance this so I just want to get the implements now. If I wasnt building the home and using my cash from each check I would shop implements. But if I dont have then, then there is no use for the tractor and I want them now.

SNOW BLOWER $2500
Quick release forks. $500, which they say is their cost.
tiller $2,000
mower $1800

Interestingly, the $3900 difference is a bit more complex than just 12 HP. It's also about at what RPM each engine develops its peak HP, and how that might affect fuel consumption. There are other factors as well, PTO power and hydraulic flow rates. Check out this article I found :

Thanks for the article. I read it.

The Kubota is a turbo engine and the Kubota dealer is telling me his product is better because its a turbo diesel compared to the Yanmar. Im just trying to learn before I spend 40 plus K. I just called a Yanmar dealer at another place who does not sell the larger Yanmars and tried to sell me a Branson in the 55HP range and claims his is a cummins? Its much cheaper with the 55HP in the 32K range???? I called because he is a Yanmar dealer but when I talked to him he said his software and licensing for yanmar was for the 20Hp arena so he automatically tried to move me to the Branson, when I spoke about 59 HP.

Yanmar makes power with cubic inches, Kubota with a turbo.

I'd take the cubic inches any day.

Thats what I needed to hear. Also the Kubota has DEF and that worries me since its new in tractors.

In general I've got to agree with Tractorable. Whatever benefits a turbo may provide, there's probably no downside whatsoever to having the same power in a simpler system.

There are a are a lot of advantages to turbocharging diesels, especially in cars and trucks where a punch of horsepower is important for passing vehicles or climbing hills - in other words, revving through the range of RPMs. Some of that applies to tractors, but not all of it. At any rate, I think they'll all be turbos at some point because of emissions regulations.

Your Kubota dealer may have a point about turbos if he's selling to folks working land at extremely high elevations. A quick check online tells me that Cambridge, ID is around 2600 feet above sea level, so I don't think that's an issue at all for you.

Does anyone know if you can roll coal in a Kubota because of turbo lag?? Seriously though, Kubota makes great machines and I wouldn't rule them out - but it's not apples to apples right now for the tractors you're looking at, since Yanmar YT3's have a completely different type of transmission. The I-HMT is a bit like the system on the giant German Fendt tractors. I don't know of any other maker that's selling something like that in the US. There are a lot of youtube videos about how I-HMT's work, like this one:

WATCH THIS VIDEO BEFORE BUYING A TRACTOR... - YouTube and this one: Yanmar Showcases YT3 Tractor - YouTube

And if you're curious and want to geek out on tractor transmissions, check out the Fendt! (Yeah, I probably watch too many tractor videos)

I believe yanmar also uses a DPF. It is my understanding Minhindra is the only tractor without DPF.

I didn't expect the hear 35K for a 47 hp yanmar tractor, when I can buy a 65 HP cab Minhindra with very low hrs for 24 K.
I thought yanmar would be in the ball park. My findings are ,they aren't close

Comparing new tractor prices to used tractors prices is not a fair comparison. Sure, I could buy a used 55hp New Holland for less than a new 40hp Kubota, that doesn't mean the new Kubota isn't worth buying.

Like buying new vehicles. New things aren't always the best value .
A couple yr old low hr tractor with more HP (65), and cab would be worth the savings to me over a new 47 hp tractor without cab.
