It's ok... I'm leaving the thread too. The lack of intelligence displayed in some of your (collective) responses is giving me a headache. I feel like I'm dropping brain cells trying to get down to some of your levels.

Back to the OP... My initial response to the thread (back on page 3'ish) is the advice I'd suggest you go with. Ignore the conjecture published by those uninformed souls who paint the Police as villains either too un-versed or corrupt to handle the CPL issue appropriately... And have some faith in the truth that the vast majority of Law Enforcement professionals are going to do the right thing.

The police are not all villains. Personally, never had to have faith in cops doing the right thing in my own personal actions. That said, if I had to deal with the police, only a FOOL would go in without a lawyer. That sir, is a fact any way you cut it.

I don't have blind faith in anybody outside of a few lifetime friends, a couple family members, and my wife and God. They all get credit.. Everyone else pays cash.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

However, ironically enough, the question couldn't be answered.

You couldn't answer what your profession is and what percent you think are crooked??

I've been in HVAC the last 20 years or so. I could only guess about 10% as there is a fine line in the HVAC industry between being crooked and being incompetent.

That said, if someone is crooked in HVAC, worst case, you're out money. Thing is, when cops go crooked, lives can be destroyed.

Do I honestly believe that there is a higher propensity of cops as compared to other professions? No. That said, and my only point in when dealing with the police is you keep it professional, courteous and when questioned, KNOW your rights and don't be afraid not to answer.

Anything else?

In my opinion it is ludicrous (or down right stupid) to try to categorize honesty and integrity with professions etc...

The majority of the working class do not swear oaths or have granted authoritative powers over civilians...
...it is the power that corrupts
