Yeah I agree.

Just saw stats yesterday that 57,000 LEOs were assaulted on the job in 2016.

I wonder how many lawn guys were assaulted?

I think you missed the point...
"lawn guys" don't seek the responsibility and the authoritative powers a LEO does...their chosen profession does not generally put them in harms way or involve them with conscienceless criminal elements...

Also as long as we are/were talking percentages...I would bet a large number of firemen (or those that try to be firemen) come from a percentage of the population that tend to have a *hero complex* type personality...

* also known as "hero syndrome" ...also applies to LEOs

My point from my first post here is "bad is bad", regardless of who you are or what clothing you wear.

Your point is it's okay to be bad as long as you aren't in a position of authority.

I guess it depends on "who" you have to justify your bad behavior to. :)

I could be wrong, but I believe you missed his point, that being that when one has power, it tends to corrupt.

Pretty sure I got the point. When you think about it, corruption most likely starts that way. Even if it's a simple exchange with family and/or friends. It's always up to us individually to rise above that. Regardless of our occupation. My point is being an LEO doesn't make our failure any more wrong than if we aren't LEO. :)

And you Sir, have power in this discussion. Is that corrupting you? :)

And I wonder how many people were "assaulted" (using the same definition as assault on an officer) by an officer?

Want to bet the number was way more then 57,000?

Maybe the stat experts here can tell us?

according to TSA a weapon concealed carry permit is not valid government ID for boarding a plane. But, all TSA ID requirements are contained on permit.
Pennsylvania drivers license is not valid for boarding in January. They are saying, need passport Military ID and other things.

Go figure.

I don’t understand that at all. I had to have a full background check, fingerprints and everything else to get my carry permit. If I remember right, I just needed a social security number to get my DL. (Maybe birth cert.)

I'm going to bet that number is pretty low. Change "hero syndrome" to "service mentality" then I'll go along. Folks who join the fire service wanting to be heroes wash out pretty quick once they find that for the majority of the time on shift it's about training, doing maintenance and equipment checks, and just down time. As a Captain on my department, I don't want heroes, I want well-trained team players who know how to do their job well and not let down their brothers (male or female). If the opportunity comes to be a "hero" and be able to save someone from a burning building, then it's because that firefighter was well trained and were doing what they were trained to do along with their shift mates. No command officer wants or needs someone who "freelances" on the fireground because they pose a safety risk to themselves and to the other firefighters.

Thank you for your Service!!!

Try to not take the comments here too seriously. A lot of Testosterone floating around here with very little meat to back it up. :)
