wow bcs 853 diesel with steel tracks...it doesn't get more high end than that in this space! Primo equipment!

And here's my opinion. A cheap ford 9n/2n/8n and a 2 bottom moldboard plow is a good combo and not that expensive (less than these 2 wheel setups cost). In this two wheel space, you need a lot of weight added to your 2 wheel, not sure how much the steel tracks add or if it's equivalent to the weight hanging potential on a rubber tire setup (even better, steel digging cleat wheels and weights), but even if it is...you're still running a smaller moldboard and only a single bottom plow than say the ford tractor which has bigger moldboards and can pull two of them. So my advice is to forget all the weight considerations and complications and get a rotary plow, which is a faster form of primary tillage (virgin tilling of ground) because it's like plowing and discing in one single pass, and the mechanical action breaks up harder to till soils faster and easier. They go nice and deep, too. I just bought one and am very satisfied with its performance. Also probably the best tool for hilling potatoes and corn for weed control and growth benefits.

MUY BUENO Jose,

La Mula will work very well and break plenty of ground for your jard'in. all you need is a bit of rain and some lime and gypsum and you can plant a cover crop of beans or rye for the winter to build up the soil.

Andele, Andele, Arriba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, as my friends used to say-they stole that from Speedy Gonzalez

I have to break ground for my new garden this month and I will plant winter wheat for a green manure crop.

Hehe well actually I plan on using it for cultivating 4 hectares of hay, most of my ranch is invaded by a mix of spiny brush and woolly croton that’s one of the reasons why i didn’t get a used tractor instead. Haha speedy gonzalez was cancelled because some mexicans think it’s a bit racist but I like it :)

If you do a little searching, there are steel wheel options for old tractors, they get killer traction too! Don't drive them on the manicured lawn lol. The two wheel tractors are superior for small garden plots due to tighter spacing, maneuverability and the fact you can get them through the garden even when the plants are big and bushy. And really good for hilly stuff you don't want to risk a tumble on with a ride on.

Im sure there are many alternatives to walk behind tractors!

I could not find a decent cheap used tractor for sale close to where I live, I tried to do that believe it or not! But that is not the reason why I bought my bcs. Ill tell you this: I have 360 hectares of buffelgrass/spinybrush/woolly croton wish me luck! :cool2:

so these weeds can pop thick rubber agricultural tires? I might have to research this to see what we are discussing. Do you just grow hay, or do you grow food crops for animals and/or people as well? How's the weather about this time of year? I always consider moving away from Minnesota about this time of year! Summers are nice though, 70s and 80s most of the time, nothing too nasty.

Where did you acquire your BCS? From a dealer in Mexico, or did you have to drive into Texas? I was thinking you maybe ordered from Joel @ earthtools, because the tracks and plow equipment are stuff he imports from Italy and sells.

not the weeds but woody plants are the problem, for example thorns from mesquite can pop a tire, but not only that. A big part of the land that is not covered in brush is uneven: holes from pulling out stumps, 1-3 inch diameter and around 10 inch in height cutstumps from very hardwood spiny brush, etc. There are some plots of less than 5 hectares that are cleared of brush and have an established cover of buffelgrass and botriochola pertusa. I plan on clearing more plots slowly and try to establish perennial grasses myself, also near a "resaca" and a "creek" that run thru the land, the terrain is uneven there but I will try irrigation with the bcs pump that I got as well!! hahaha :)

My grandfather used to grow sorghum, cartamo and corn, but not anymore, agriculture went down the drain after NAFTA and USA dumping subsidized crops, selling calves is still an ok business around here.

I bought my stuff from earth tools! had it delivered to a freight terminal in harlingen texas, returning to mexico with my new stuff was a hassle! had to wait 4 weeks until the mexican customs "authorities" decided it was ok to do the import of my stuff, I tried self-declaration at the customs but the price of the invoice was greater than 5000 usd...

thanks! I will upload more videos in a few weeks when I learn how to use everything properly, they seem to work good with the brush mower as well, although a bit slow
