Only complaint I hear is that they role out new stuff so fast people are gun shy their model may not be supported or repairable into the future, and people report Sony customer service is non existent. Sony lens are very limited, and Robustness of them is in question too.

All this works to your advantage Scott. Allows you to keep up with the latest and greatest and be sick as I am with cameras. Also, you do not want a bunch of lenses. Two at the most with one of them being a primary. When I went to Alaska, I brought three. A 9x18, A quick 35mm and a 70-300 mm which as you know gets doubled with the smaller formats. In Alaska, you cannot get wide enough or far enough with lenses anyway.

The Thunderbirds were taken with the 70-300 out all the way. 1000 iso @ f/11 1/2500 shutter. I guess they were a thousand feet away on this shot. In good light, it can be pretty fast. Grain adds some smoothness.
The Alaska shot was taken with the 35mm. Both were with an Olympus E-5.
Any of the cameras we are talking about would take these shots with even better IQ.

Two out of a micro four thirds Olympus Pen, Alaska, and England. Both were taken with a 14-42 zoom, 28-80 on a full sized. I agree, I'm going primes, in the future. Looks like TBN will not show the detail.

the best camera I have used is the NIKKON, but I really prefer the samsung mobile camera...

Nikon makes good stuff. I know I prefer them to Olympus and Canon as far as their dslrs are concerned . Olympus with their new OM series has the advantage in size as a mirrorless but I prefer Nikon for color as I feel it gives a truer representation in that regard.
Interesting to see Nikon's mirror less effort in their V3. View finder kind of hokey however. I'd still shoot for the Fuji offering.

I'm waiting for nikons announced full sensor mirrorless, looking like 2018, rumors are there are two new mirrorless coming from Nikon. I love the quality of the Olympus OMD EM1 mark II. Really unmatched, and their new pro lens are unmatched too. But the smaller sensor and 20 MP holds me back, even though I understand with proper lens which Olympus has and image stabilization you won't suffer from low light disadvantages of a smaller sensor. It's missing the dials on top, and retains the complicated menus that everyone is now rejecting. Smaller lighter is the trend, with old style dials for shutter speed, ISO, aperture, compensation, on top and in view. I love the Fugifilm X-T2, which is moving into legendary status. It's hit the bullseye and cameras costing over $5k don't match up, I'm probably an idiot for not just deciding on it and buy.

Funny you say that. I am not into cameras but I do take lots of pics and videos and I have some little HD cameras and a giant SLR thing with a few (big) lenses that I don't bother with as it is too hard on batteries. It is in my shed in a box and can live there till I die.
I have a iphone SE that takes sort of 4K stuff that I edit down to 1980 or something like that, the photos are great, but nothing I have beats my old Samsung S3 and closeups are amazing. I don't use it as a phone any more as I have others but it is the best little camera of any I have had.

200 yards away I was watching this boar and wondered if I could get this pic with my phone. The screen on my Canon is great for zooming in on wildlife!!

Never hurts to be diligent. The two main criterias I have are color integrity as mentioned, and speed meaning I want the shot as I'm seeing it. For a trip of a life time, I don't care what I have to drag along to archive it. For daily stuff, light and pocketable is the mantra. Although I would not consider the X-T2 as "pocketable" in the fit in your pants sense, it splits a difference as a do everything camera with a higher degree of portability. You can wait for the Nikon but I'm willing to bet it will have nothing over the Fuji as far as IQ. With controls up top, menu searching (which I abhor) becomes lessened so the least complicated there, the more I'd lean for that and I prefer view finders.
As I stated before Scott, whatever you buy will be outdated in months. If you wait for advanced offerings, you'll be waiting a lifetime. To me, the only reason to stick to a certain camera, is because of familiarity. Like I did with chainsaws, I never stuck to a certain manufacturer of cameras either. Curiosity has been my he11 or heaven depending on how you look at it.

I have a buddy who is a Sony nut. He just purchased an A7RII. ($2800). I haven't used it but the shots he has taken are spectacular. 863 sq inches of sensor along with 42 ml's. Over a thousand bucks more than you're looking for but a superb piece none the less. I think this is the epitome of mirror less right now.

Is it worth more than a Fuji for what it gives? Not for the standard once in awhile photographer. If you are making large prints (my buddy made an 18x24 dusk shot of a local sea shore.Absolutely no grain at all and I mean none and he sells these prints) That is one thing but for everyday or occasional use, don't know if it's worth it to you.
