Drone Video Corn Harvest at Night

My friends were shelling corn a couple miles from my house so took the Drone over for a look. Wanted to shoot some video at night and where they were working was a good location. It's a bit lengthy but worth it if you are interested by farm equipment in operation. Enjoy.

Glad you enjoyed it. This is a family farming operation. They plant an average of 20K acres of a mix of soybeans and corn each year. Many millions of dollars of equipment. Their bin site is where they park everything in off season. Looks like a John Deere dealer's lot. Great bunch of guys. We are fortunate to have them in our community.

Thanks Kevin. First time at shooting in darkness. I need to educate myself on the camera settings. I left it in Auto mode. My still shots didn't turn out so well. Auto mode was trying to add more light so it held the aperture open too long.

They don't deliver any of their corn directly to ethanol plants. They sell on the grain boards of trade under contracted price. A very small percentage goes to a local feed mill that supports a corporate hog operation.

They'll leave these fields as they are until next Spring. Then a vertical tillage tool will run over them once, then plant to soybeans.

Hopefully sometime this afternoon for both of us. This cold weather snap has drove me inside more than I like.....

Quite a refreshing change from most of the harvest videos on the tube especially with the narration and no music!

I run the grain cart for a local farming partnership over several thousand acres of wheat, corn, beans and milo each year. Trying to keep up with a couple Deere 9770 combines in good milo can be a real challenge especially with long hauls across rough fields. Even one 9770 with a 12 row corn head can be difficult to keep the combine moving in irrigated corn especially.
It would be really tough without radios and I look back and wonder how we did it 60 years ago without them. Everything ran at a much slower pace back then however.
