If you do buy the Branson and do remove the soot cooker you can also remove the data logger. Other wise you will have a dpf emblem light in the dash. I just taped up the plug real good and wire tied it up. Yep warm up everything before I use it. Just can't see running the ball sack off it when that iron is cold as he!! I'm retired also and in no hurry for anything, just dinner and coffee on the porch. I have about 20 acres I bush hog 4 or 5 times a year and it takes me at least 3 days to do it with a 7 foot bush hog. No hurry, want a good job done and after 4 to 5 hours bouncing in that ruff field I've had enough for the day. I'm not a young man any more. I do wish I bought the 5220 also and had a self leveling loader instead of the regular one.

Why would you have preferred to buy the 5520 over the 4520 aside from the extra 47 to 55 hp? Aren't they both the same cab and the same size everything?

If you like the Branson I see that Service Power Equipment is a Branson dealer. From their website it looks like Sulphur Springs is the home location plus they have Tyler, Emory, and Mineola locations. That is a lot closer to Ben Wheeler than Grandbury.

Yes I know them in fact they bought out my closest dealer in Mineola. Those stores they currently have used to all be independent dealers so by them buying everyone it could make it a great deal or it could mean there's no competition so they can do whatever they want. The dealer in Caddo Mills is owned my an Asian gentleman so I think that's why it wasn't bought out, he might have direct contacts. All of this is my conjecture of course since I don't know anyone there.

Do you know if the 5220 has the self leveling loader as an option or as standard? My Massey has it and I can't believe everyone else doesn't have it standard.

I believe it's an option. I think it only a couple hundred more if that. That was one of the things on my list (kept in my forgetful head) and forgot completely about it until the tractor was loaded on a truck and headed here. Kick myself every time I grab the joystick on that tractor.

The 1736 is a nice little unit, however are you currently happy with the power of the 1533? All the used tractors you were looking at were 55HP plus. The 1736 has 27 HP at the PTO. the wheel base is 69 inches. I am sure it will turn a 5 foot cutter no problem but might struggle to turn a 6 foot which will cover the tire tracks. You never really stated what type of cutter you are using right now. Will you be using existing implements for the new tractor?

For just a few dollars more a few more hp. Yes same everything except turbo and fuel is probably turned up a smiggen. Don't get me wrong the 4720 I am happy with just pulling a 7 foot hog in thick grass a few more hp would help. Trouble is if I had a 5220 I would want one bigger then too. When I was on the dairy farm we had two tractors well over 100 horse and some good size equipment. And when working a little 20 acre field it didn't take three or more days. A person gets use to a 8000 some odd pound 4 door diesel truck to drive all day every day it's hard to cram your butt in a smart car. Same same!!!!!

I edited that post but you must have replied before I did. My Massey doesn't have self leveler, I was thinking about the floating position on the loader that I didn't see on any of the newer ones.

Yep standard with float on loader control.

Yes I'm happy with my 1533 with 33hp so I figure that the Branson 4520C, with its simple non turbo 47hp engine (42hp at PTO) plus removable DPF, will do what I want and more plus it's the cheapest of all so now I just have to get the best price from the 2 local dealers, Big Red was only quoting MSRP and that won't cut it. I also might have to wait a month so it's closer to the end of the year and they're willing to give bigger discounts.
