TN Andy, What kind of a door is that to the left. Non consumer junk things always catch my eye. I'm thinking safe or big *** walk in freezer.

May septic system in the country also use pumps. How utterly stupid is that?

And we have a WINNER!!!

Luckily we know pretty much everyone on our street. I honestly believe we would work together.

As mentioned, if anything were to happen, we wouldn't have time to prepare anyway, and as mentioned, that would be intentionally at the hands of our government.

We are lucky in that sense as well. We all get along and we tend to watch out for each other. However,
I honestly think if poop hit the fan, 9 out of 10 of my neighbors might shoot the idiot that lives down the street from us on about day 2. She'd be first to be voted off the island, permanently. We are sure she'd start something bad, quickly. Of course I'm joking..... but man, can you imagine how many situations like that would happen across the country?

Can't look it up if you don't know how to spell it.

I do.

Know my neighbor pretty well who our road is named after, as well as his sons and grandkids (all relatively successful in their own right). Also know most everyone who lives on the road that doesn't have the same last name as well.

The reality is I coudn't move all my ammo in my truck if I wanted to, added, the best offense if you don't want losses is a good defense. Makes more sense for everyone to stick together and stay put. Build a good defense, and work on water a water supply.

One could argue even if you have the electronics background, all one needs to do is kill you for ALL of the snicker bar.

Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt there will be people only looking out for themselves.

God gave us a brain, lets hope we use it.

I recall an aunt that lived in Ohio during a catastrphic tornado event back in the 60's. Entire town wiped out, and looting started. She and her neighbors took turns with armed watches on all sides of the block for several days. It got pretty ugly before it got better. I'd watch out for my neighbors. I'm pretty sure they'd watch out for me. Never know until it happens, though.

Not certain as to why at that point. Gun would come more in handy LOL

I only got 45 minutes, the FIRST thing I'm going to do is to try to ensure that my family is with me as well as the basics. By this time, a piece of paper won't mean squat unless you're using it to start a fire.

It is possible it may be helpful to prove ownership if for instance you need to leave your home temporarily for safety reasons and when you come back you find someone in your home.
Proving ownership may avoid bloodshed, if they refuse to leave then???

North Korea should be wayyyyyy down your list of concerns. Try to not watch so much National News. If this Country is overtaken it will be without a shot fired. We'll implode from within.

If a Nuclear device ever successfully lands on this Continent I hope I see it coming and catch it. You don't wanna be at the fringes of the kill zone.......

Good point. Russia has actually threatend to EMP us back to the stone age, and use a few selective nukes to touch off the Yellowstone super volcano. And I have no doubt they could probably do it.

Tsar Bomba, anyone?

Q. If you knew North Korea launched a nuke and had 45 minutes to prepare for an EMP attack what would you do??
A. One thing I would do is copy all of my financial records: most recent bank statement, recent brokerage statements, electronic copy of pension award letters, etc. to a thumb drive for fear that some of the data storage systems will be slow to recover if not be destroyed entirely.
With that said, I think I will soon create a digital copy of my birth certificate and some other important documents and save these to a thumb drive just in case. After all, 45 minutes isn't all that much time.

In all seriousness... a thumb drive is THE worst place to store any electronic records. They are great for transporting files, but never, ever, rely on storing files on a thumb drive. Burn a hard copy on a couple DVD and store them in separate places, one copy preferably being off-site, like a bank safe deposit box.

If the pictures on the walls in my home don't prove it's my house, not certain what will another piece of paper is going to matter if someone is in my home and they don't want to leave.

Ultimately, this is yet another reason why I own firearms.

AFAIK, throwing the breakers won't help much in your house.
I read Larry's post as a thing to do now as a way to help prepare for a possible event. I have to say, except for simulating the actions of all other people being in the same situation (a biggie in my mind), Larry's is probably a very good suggestion for a realistic exercise.
