While we have the tractor in the bay while the bottom plate is getting wrapped up, I’m going through the list and seeing what else I can get ticked off before the flakes start flying.

Going to replace the 4 40watt spots, the 2 on the front and the two on the back the cab. Has anyone made this swap and if so what did you go with? With the brackets and wires already in place it’s going to be an easy swap. There are actually too many options.....;).

I noticed another thread someone replacing the bulbs with led bulbs. I assume you are swapping the housing? I’ll be curious what others say. I have an L60 on order and thought it was crummy that they didn’t offer and LED upgrade, or just been all LEDs standard.

My explanation of which lights might have been off. I’m looking to replace th entire assembly of the two lights at the top. IMG_1105.JPG

Carlhwv,

I used something similar to this on my L4740 cab tractor. Amazon.com: Nilight Led Light Bar 2PCS 36w 6.5Inch Flood Led Off Road Lights Super Bright Driving Fog Light Boat Lights Driving Lights Led Work Light SUV Jeep Lamp,2 Years Warranty: Automotive

They are very close in size and put out 5x the light (They are really bright and have greater coverage than stock lights). Soldered the old electrical connectors to the LED lights making it plug and play. Did have to make a small adapter piece using 1/8" x 1" flat bar about 2 to 3" long given the difference in mounting position between the two style of lights. For under $35 I'm very please with their performance and relative simplicity of adding to tractor. If you're interested in some info of my install it can be found here. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/383539-cab-work-lights-changed-over.html?highlight=

Also mounted a similar set to a B3030 cab tractor with similar results.

FYI... All of these LED's seem to overrate the current draw so you'll be saving considerable electrical load versus halogens. These 36 watt lights only use 2.06 amps per light at 12.6 supply voltage.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Moship. I was wondering what kind of draw to expect. I thought it would be less, but not that much less. Brighter is good, but increased
field of coverage is what I’m really looking for. They even sell a 4 pack....:).

Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone else reading as well.

My cheap chinese LED light bars pull around half the advertised wastage & are noisy (1 kills the radio, other causes a bit of static). But you can't beat the light output.

I went WAY overkill on the wiring even based on the claimed specs. But im happy with my setup (after the rear bracket repair & upgrade) & the future expansion options for more electronics or lights later. You might be able to squeeze some smaller bars onto the stock wiring.

Not sure how close the cab on you M is to my Grand L but feel free to poach my install guide. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/customization/376458-let-there-light-l4060-light.html

Thanks for sharing your setup. I think it’s a bit more than what I want to take on for what I need right now but it definitely gives me another option of a true light bar.

Is yours a 10 or 20amp circuit? I think all LED lights are rated strange. No direct experience with the tractor but anywhere else I’ve used them, they all seem to draw less than than their same incandescent or halogen. I’m thinking of getting a set of the 72 ‘watt’ and seeing what they draw. My light circuit is 20amps

I'm not certain what the stock circuits are fused/rated at for the front and rear cab lights. I'll have to look when I'm around the tractor again. Considering I'm only using 40% of what the stock lights consumed, there was no concern.

I'm guessing your 72 Watt lamps will draw a total of 4.1 watts. These ratings are likely coming from the max rating of an individual led within the housing. When running at 100% of rating they might have a problem dissipating the heat. Reduce the current slightly and it likely prolongs their life and/or makes it easier to design the heat sink.

I ended up putting the 36W and I see just over 2 amp draw when they are on. They were a direct pop off pop on fit. They are floods and light up the work area amazingly. Still if I had to do it again I think I’d get the 72W spot/flood combo, just because. I’m going to use these for a storm or two and see if they are worth changing out. I put them on the rear as well. They are perfect there.
