WoodMaxx FM62H on a Kubota B series tractor

Hello Frosty,

You will have a greater benefit with the FM62H as it will require less torque and you can overlap and recut material with side slicer knives (the Y knife pairs) The scoop knives will not let you recut material on a second pass.

After reading more comments I phoned WoodMaxx and went down to the FM62H. Thanks for the input fellas.

I upgraded from my previous LS XR4046HC to a new LS XR4155HC last week. So now I have 55HP and 44HP at PTO. My dealer thinks that LS understates their PTO HP.

The XR4046HC had 46HP and 37HP at PTO so I was considering the WoodMaxx FM78H since it required 30 HP and I had rear remotes.

The new XR4155 has 3 remotes and a CAT 2 on the 3-point hitch. I’m now investigating the WoodMaxx FM88H which specifies 50 HP. My pastures are all good grass so, I would not be trying to run over large brush.

I have an 8’ Bush Hog dual spindle cutter that I use on anything difficult or larger diameter.

Any reason to believe that the FM88H would be too much for me? I’m thinking Y knives also. How much does knife type affect torque requirements?

FM-88H PTO Flail Mower (88")

I tried using WoodMaxx chat a couple of days ago and it was having issues, it would just shut down in the middle of a conversation.

I’m going to call them early next week to discuss my 6HP deficiency? If my 44HP at PTO is understated and WoodMaxx HP requirements are conservative I should be okay?

Any opinions out there from seasoned Flail Nation users?

Thanks in advance!

Rick, I have it on my list to get the FM-88H for my NX5510. I don't worry too much about speed because my terrain is a bit rough, that and I have quite a few trees.

After 11 years of work, my pastures are smooth and nearly weed free. Like you I have lots of trees.

Rick, nice place! I've got a few more trees; though with brush and debris it all adds up to a fair amount to navigate. My property is like a maze, I've got paths everywhere; slowly widen and branch out.
