WoodMaxx FM62H on a Kubota B series tractor

I am in much the same place. But my tractor is a little smaller. Ordered with Y blades. Plan on buying a second set when delivery is set. May also include a set of duck foot blades.
The videos that I have looked at look like the Y blades will do what my land very well.

Woodmaxx tells me I'm a little short on PTO Hp. I'm rated @ 26.5 PTO Hp and a minimum of 30 PTO Hp is recommended for the FM-78H. Wondering if I should go down to the FM-62H?

Hello Frosty,

You will have a greater benefit with the FM62H as it will require less torque and you can overlap and recut material with side slicer knives (the Y knife pairs) The scoop knives will not let you recut material on a second pass.

Not sure what I would do. I plan on cutting my 3 acres every month. So the height would be around 2’ max. I should have enough power for that. With less power than max. You would need to slow down or take smaller cuts for harshest cutting.
My tractor is on low end of the 62”. But I would not go to the 54” to be more in the middle of power requirements. I run a 5’ RC behind my tractor. Kubota recommends 4’. That is inside the rear tire width. While 5’ is at tread width.

A lot depends on what you are cutting. If you fields are not dense you can go wider, if they are thick grass that is going to take more HP. Also after the initial cut you can only cut with 2/3 the mower if you find power is an issue.

Tractor tire width = 62" (R4). The FM62H = 59" cut (narrower than tire width). FM78H = 74" cut. I'm NOT looking for 'lawn' type cutting. Have 'bunch' grass (we call it Johnson Grass 'round here) and clover in field and mow 1x to 2x / yr (spring n' fall). Livestock (cattle / horses) graze during summer (flood irrigation). I just want to knock these fields down without 'windrowing' it, getting a better mulch. Have been using a 5' brush hog for 4 yrs.

I am going to start DIGGING this place up next year (15A) about 25% ea yr and plant better permanent pasture grass (i.e. fescue, orchard, timothy, rye). I think I will probably need to get a cultipacker too. Hasn't been turned for 20 yrs! Of course this will bring the ROCKS to the surface (YIKES)! Although some is pretty good loamy soil. What a mix! It is what it is and Ya got what ya got! Last planted in corn 20 yrs ago - has it's ups n' downs!

I have the 62H on my B2710. Works great, just slows down a bit in thicker stuff.

I used to have a B2710. Great little Tractor. I added a rear remote for a hydraulic top link for box blade etc.

You must have done same for your 62H?

No, i purchased additional hoses and fittings and borrow from the bucket curl. I’ve linked the post with video below. I agree, fantastic little tractor. Love the 62H as well.

I did view your video. But was not aware that you had a B2710. Thanks for that info.
My tractor has 3 sets of extra remotes in rear of tractor. 62H should work good on my B2910.
