Where is everyone getting their Christmas hams?

Locally, I like the Smithfield hams (by locally, I mean the closest Walmart, which is+20 miles away). Cooks, Kentucky something-or-other and all the rest that available at our local grocery stores, just don't taste as good.

At this late date, I don't know if I can get something via mail order but I'm willing to try.

What do you guys like?

I like ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that Smithfield makes/sells!

Chinese owned....processed in the US, I believe.

If we buy a ham, we generally get it from the local Honeybaked Ham store in town. Pricey, but very good.

The best hams that are sold in grocery stores are the ones sold in H.E.B. stores that are packaged in the RED wrapper. OF course you have to be in Texas to get an HEB and even then not in all locations. I have no idea who packages them, but they are very tasty.

I also like the Virginia salt cured hams but really don't know where to buy them mail order. They are not all the same either so each business might cure them slightly different. I got one from Tennessee a few years back that wasn't that good although it have rave reviews.

Ham for Christmas ? Christmas meals are roast turkey and occasional roast goose .

We get ours from an old boy in a little bitty town about 45 miles away. He raises 'em, kills them, butchers and smokes them. They're as good or better than anything else I've ever had for ham.

We usually get costco one, but believe shes doing a roast this year.
