Here is a ironic pic for you all, see if you can spot why on the load.

Maybe not tied down but you can't tell for sure in the picture. The trailer doesn't appear to be sitting level but that's not a big deal as light as it's loaded.

It wasn’t tied down, I wasn’t going very far and didn’t bother to tie it down past setting the ebrake on the mower.

The truck has a pintle hitch stuffed in the receiver which I can’t get out, I shot PB blaster in it for a week, hit it with a sledge, even wrapped a chain around a tree and lightly tugged on it, didn’t budge, I can’t see that it’s welded in but idk. IMG_9429.JPG

It’s set on the highest bolt holes, I need to lower it to level the trailer.

That’s a 54in, 24hp husqvarna mower with 272h I bought for $800, used it for 2 seasons, replaced all the idler pulleys on the deck, replaced the voltage regulator and bought two $35 set of blades, I had around $1000 in it and sold it yesterday for $1100.

I don't trust my lawnmower brakes very much. I usually hook a loose chain on the front.

If the mower rolls out the back, simply tell the buyer that the deliver fee is 1,099 and that the tractor is only $1, so then they cant complain about any damage.

It’s HST also, if it started rolling it had 12ft of trailer to slowly roll-on before I could get stopped, I think my Max speed was around 45 on that trip.

When those hitches rust into the receiver it's like they welded themselves together. You could try a beefy slide hammer, but I'm thinking that if you already tried hooking it to a tree and hit it with a sledge that's probably not going to do any better. At least it could develop some shock/spike load that you maybe didn't do with the tree and in the right direction compared to the sledge. Just another idea.

Recent posts here remind me of about 20 years ago when I guy I know put a partially loaded oil drum in the bed of his brand new truck that had a bed liner that was slippery on the bottom. He didn't strap it down as tight as I would have and wouldn't listen to me. Anyway, in the short drive we took, all was OK until he accelerated a bit and the straps created a bit of slack. Then someone pulled in front of us and he braked suddenly and the drum accelerated forward. It puckered the back of the bed metal severely and I presume pulled the sides in a little bit.

It's hard to get that metal back in shape but he tried and it never looked right. For the few years he had that truck he never got over it. After that, every truck had a rubber bed mat in it on day one.

I tried a sledge hammer first, side to side, front and back the best I could threw the week I was soaking it with PB blaster multiple times a day, no luck.
Although I just let the sledge do the work, I didn’t try to destroy the thing.

After that failed I tugged on a tree a bit lol again not trying to break something, the thing didn’t budge a bit and I said the heck with it and put the pin back in.

I guess instead of changing ball mounts I’ll just have to get used to changing balls on this pintle set up.

This is one of those really interesting problems!

Might be some better penetrating fluid to use (some folks say kerosene(?) and ATF works the best; someone recently managed to get a frozen clutch free'd up using vinegar and some force), but I think it's needing a bit more help... Perhaps jacking up (weight of vehicle) on the hitch and letting gravity work on it a bit? (obviously, one needs to account for all the safety concerns)

Not sure if you can get at the back side, but maybe an impact gun (chisel)? And use something like this:

Ah, thanks for the correction! (for sure, it couldn't smell any worse than PB Blaster )

Fluid film worked well for me!

take the hitch off and beat it out form the back.... you may need to cut the back of the tube off to get to the inner 2" tube. we had that same inssue with a county truck bought at auction. might be cheaper to find a different hitch

+1 on Fluid Film. Best snake oil ever. I gave up on PB Blaster a long time ago when I first discovered FF.

"Slick Stuff" is a less expensive knock-off of Fluid Film.
