It costs a whopping $700 bucks at a dealer to replace the rear main seal on the 6.7 cummins.Pretty fair price IMHO.Had the 5.9 cummins in my 2004 dodge 2500 truck.One of the most dependable engine & trucks I ever owned.

You just want to be argumentative, not much else to do on winter days I guess.

On December 10, 2012, Cummins built the 2,000,000th ISB for RAM, since then, Cummins has built another 500,000 ISBs for RAM. Additionally, the ISB is used in marine, in school buses, Class A motorhome, medium duty trucking, and gensets. So they are all junk you say? If that is the case, I'll take that junk engine everytime.

Mostly, it's because he trolls this site looking for ways to inject his opinions about Cummins. He doesn't like Cummins - we get it. Notice that the OP was asking about 1500 Rams. The diesel engine used in 1500 Rams is not even made by Cummins.

I have nothing against Cummins, I was most surprised a two year old dodge 3500 Cummings had suffered a RMS failure, until I went on the net only to find hundreds. Yeah, you pay your money, you take your chances. More information you have the better before you lay your money down. They are prevalent enough Dodge has a corporate policy for dealers to follow on handling RMS failures. You do your own investigation, I'm passing on a issue, it's real, up to you what you buy or drive. A flawed Cummins in an Italian truck, no thanks.

And if you do a search for 4.0 rear main leak you'll also find hundreds of Jeep owners w/ this problem but that was by far the most popular engine as far as durability goes. Just cause it leaks doesn't mean it's junk.

Again, 100's of Rear Main Seal issues in MILLIONS of trucks is next to nothing and certainly not something to worry about. Sounds like I have the same odds of getting hit by a meteorite........

Has RAM even sold a million trucks with a Cummins in them? Dodge probably has, but I’m not sure if RAM has yet.
