Almost to the 50hr mark and preparing for the service. This might be for more tractors than the eMax...

To remove the suction screen, is it best to remove the rear tire?

What about the o-rings? Replace or reuse?

I cleaned my suction tube, inspected o-rings they looked fine so I refused them. Her is link to video I made. I did not remove tire.

Thanks for the link. I did it a couple of months ago. You're right, no need to remove the tire. Clean, inspect and put back. I do have replacement O rings for that and the fuel filter, just in case.

For the filter can I ended up removing the hose just below the filter. That gave me the room to get a strap on it and the clearance to get the filter in/out of the location.

Ah, who put the drain plugs in?? Hunk Hogan?!?!

Now to find a synthetic oil replacement...

I had something new happen this weekend. While working I heard a snap and suddenly I found the HST was locked going forward. Lucky I had enough space and time to realize what was happening. I was able to press reverse and even the HST out to stop. While inspecting what went wrong I noticed a spring end broke and was on the ground, it jumped completely off the mounts.

I located the spring, #25, but the IPB really doesn't show how it mounts. Is anyone kind enough to take an underside picture of the spring near the HST pedals??

I never knew just how much an Allis Chalmers B and the Mahindra eMax were alike... :confused3:

Picked up a replacement spring for the tractor Friday and had some time after yard work to replace it. What a PITA! It needed to be stretched about 1.5" to go over the mount. It was all I could do in the position you needed to get into.

OK guys here are a few tips for you Emax 22 HST owners.
Just recently I begin having starting issues in the morning. The temperature is only around 30?ï½° which I felt should not of been an issue. The tractor will take several attempts to start while billing heavy black smoke.

Once warmed up no problems at all starting or running
I did some searches and looked into the 10 AM fuse which I cleaned and put back in and had no effect.
The glow plug light was turning on and staying on and for good 30 seconds but I still had heart start issues
I also had a check engine light appearing on the dash which would flash too long lights and for quick lights which I determined to be 24. Apparently that code as no meaning in the Mahindra literature.
I ohmed out the glow plugs in they checked out normal. I remove them and bench tested them with 12 V and they heated up fine. I also had 12 volts on each glow plug with the key on.
Something was still not right.

I spoke to the dealer where I bought the tractor which is Johnson auto in Bethany Connecticut. They recommended a look at the glow plug relay wiring. I did just that and I found that the wiring harness was rubbing on the frame. I pulled out the relay put it back in and it started right up.

The relay is buried inside the engine compartment almost impossible to get to I extended a harness and relocated to a much more convenient location. It has been working fine now for a few days and start it up in 5° yesterday morning without a problem

Here is the kicker the power steering hose that comes off of the hydraulic pump which goes up to the steering wheel was completely worn through along the frame because it is such a tight fit with almost no extra hose to allow any movement.
It was starting to slowly leak and it is almost impossible to see. You have to disassemble the entire dash pull the steering wheel and the steering head unit to get the hose off.
I was going to order an OEM hose but decided to have one made a few inches longer to keep it away from the frame.

Take a look at your machine guys it may save you a huge headache in the future when you are in the middle of doing a project

I pulled all the body panels off this weekend. Used a flashlight and inspected, no hoses or wires rubbing. While I had access I put dielectric grease on every connector I could get my hands on.

If you have the emax with a backhoe and would like to replace the teeth, you can find aftermarket replacements that are just as good for less than 1/2 the cost of oem... What a difference a new set of teeth makes! My emax22 backhoe came with the bolt on style teeth and are available from h&l tooth co (hltooth.com). Their website is a little hard to navigate but you can call them and they will get you what you need. They are listed as hitachi style uniteeth part #ch-3056107 and are correct dimensions and bolted right up. The people at h&l were very nice and helpful, and they shipped lightning fast! All three teeth including shipping came to $68 vs $140 for oem with no shipping. They come in ugly yellow, but you can spray them black if it bugs you. I壇 call this one a WIN!
