Difference in Carhartt vs Wrangler

I get my blue jeans from Cabbalas, Post Falls, ID. They are my dress pants. They will not stand up to my spring time "thinning of the pines". My pants get wet when I thin the pines and consequently they will stick to my legs - the wet denim under stress ends up ripping out the crotch. Not too bad if I wasn't concerned about guests popping in unexpected.

The Duluth Firehouse get wet but do not stick and bind up. Different story - different end results.

My carhart b11 work pants are the best work pants I have owned. They out last normal jeans for me by at least 2 to 3 times. I found jeans to catch and tear too easy especially around barbed wire.

I'm to cheap to pay carhartt prices, my go to for work wear around the place are bib overalls, Big Mac brand, heavy duty and tough. Lots of pockets, loose fitting so they don't bind, don't need a belt to keep them up. Not much of a fashion statement, but I don't really care about that!:D

Interesting discussion, i’m Not particularly brand specific, but will say my Carhart winter work wear is going on it’s 15th or 16th season. By March or early April a trip through the wife’s laundry room resets the outfit for another winter season.
As far as work jeans, i’m Sold on the Duluth Carpenter Jeans. Lots of useful pockets for folding rules, cell phones, and other stuff. Everyday casual, Wrangler or TSC brand is good enough.

Just info if you're fond of the carpenter style canvas jeans ....... Dickie brand makes them & they are available at Wallyworld for small money. Seem to be very durable as well as comfortable.

I wear the dickie's as well and really like them and their price. I have several pair of the Duluth, but can't stand paying that much for china-wear. They're good, but can't see paying so much more than the dickies that last me nearly as long.

I have a pair of the Dickies. Same pair has lasted me 5 years. I am probably not as hard on them as y'all, but the work and are a good value.

You should definitely not buy "Dickies".

Getting ready to order new canvas long sleeve shirts. I see Wrangler long sleeve for $20. Similar description for Carhartt is $120! Major difference. Are Carhatt's worth that much more?

I’d shop around a little more on the Carhartt. :D

For work pants I wear RedKap PT10 Red Kap Men's Premium Red-E-Press Industrial Work Pant | PT1

They last forever and are comfortable for the work I do. I prefer them over jeans for working, and they last forever. I seem to outgrow them before they wear out..

For jeans, I wear Wrangler 31MWZ. They don't last nearly as long as the RedKap, but they look nicer for dressier situations.

Carhartt has blue work shirts similar to Big Mac... my all time favorite...

The way things are I need to stock up because by the time I buy in a year or two chances are no longer available.

You need to make a distinction between the rigid denim and prewashed denim in these type discussions.

Some of these prewashed jeans are nearly worn out when bought brand new. No wonder they don’t last.

Rigid or unwashed denim is very durable but takes time to become comfortable to wear. I want Work pants broken in a little bit when I buy them. Makes them more comfortable to wear when working.

My favorite winter pants are Carhartt felt lined. I have 3 pairs that I rotate throughout the week. My oldest pair is probably 5-6 years old now and they do have a few holes in them here and there but they do not rip and grow like most other jeans would. I figure I could easily get another 4 years out of them easily. And I think they were $55.00, for me, that's a good value.

I would worry about permanent residents popping out more than guests popping in unexpected.

Good advice in this situation!!!!!

The $20 vs $120 is only a comparison number. You bet I'll be looking for a better price. But then, it appears that neither brand is the favorite; Duluth appears to be the one-time buying brand. Long lasting briar proof is important to me as well as proper sizing since most of my shopping is online only.

I do have a pile of Dickies. They're real generous in their sizing, i.e. a 38 waist size just falls off of me about the same as a 42 on other brands.

Dickies are terrible for consistency. I have pants of same size that either are snug or falling off without a belt. Pants bought same time, color is only difference either blue or black. Blue smaller than black, but same color have variations also

Good advice may be if you try another brand to buy an item or two. For me the double front Carhartt pants are what I wear for work. The Duluth were recommended to me by my BIL, did not care for them. Dickies pants had a very poor fit, though the rep said they were the same material weight as the Carhartt. Dickies coats I like. On heavy sweats, I used to wear the Carhartt, but they have gotten thinner and now say krap all over them.

Thanks for the link. I may try a pair of those. Is the crease permanent like Dickies? I never have to iron the 874s.
