Typical oil/filter thread. Many claims, few facts.
Yes. Nothing controversial. Is that your contribution?![]()
I wonder how many buy all their auto parts, oil, filters ,tires, spark plugs, etc, from the dealer to make sure they are getting high cost low quality parts ?
I have been using Baldwin fuel filters on my Cumming diesel for many yrs. Baldwin filters to a much lower micron rating than the filters I was buying from the mopar dealer. Same with my oil filters,(Donaldson)and oil (Amsoil). Much Higher quality than what I can get from the dealer.
I really doubt Baldwin lowered the quality of their filter just because they have their name on it instead of Kubota.
I really posted this for those that didn't know that Baldwin made filters for Kubota, and that there is an alternative to Kubota filters on the market for their HST.
They may choose to continue to buy from Kubota ,and that's fine
Unless you saw the filters apart and compare everything, there's no telling if they are the same, or one is a little different/better/worse. You know Kubota adds a markup for sure, but we don't know if the filters are the same. Based on the studies I've seen, I wouldn't make any conclusions just yet.
The same could be said for any product
How would one know if tires from the dealer ,and the same branded tire from the tires store are the same ?
If everyone thought that parts sold at parts stores were inferior, they all would all be out of business, and all parts would be sold through the dealers
They probably aren't the same. Most likely, they are much better than buying from the dealer.
I use to buy much better parts for my drag car at places other than the dealer.
You've said this multiple times, but how do you actually know? Every point you made could be used just as easily to make the opposite conclusion. Need hard data to know the actual truth.
I don't have an opinion whose filters are better or worse -- I'll base it on whatever data we can get -- but I doubt it will be universally true either way.
HST charge pump filters are not just any plain oil filter, until you can recognize the difference between filters and the spec and the application, flow, micron and bypass pressure it is best to use OEM.
Some people in the past managed to starve the hydraulic pumps of oil because of a filter not having the correct specs.
