HST Filter

I usually don't get involved in these kinds of forum battles and contests about oils and filters, but i`ll stick with the OEM. Main reason is, the manufacturer`s are NOT going to install an inferior filter (or junk fluids) and let it go out of the factory that way. If they did, they would pay out an awful lot of warranty claims if they`re installing junk. I trust the OEM parts are doing what they`re supposed to do, and i`ve never had a reason to believe that they aren`t. For the difference in price, its not worth it to me to take the chance on a failure, and chance losing my warranty for a few pennies saved. If the filter costs me $10/$20 more for each one used, i`ll gladly pay it, and not lose a wink of sleep over it. Its not like your changing it everyday.

I`ve seen MANY times, more than you`ll ever know, where somebody was worried about saving money on filters & oils, and the next thing ya know, their vehicle showed up on a flatbed at the dealerships i`ve worked at. I cant even begin to tell you how many times i`ve done repairs because somebody made bad choices. I`ve worked over 30+yrs in dealerships turning wrench`s for many different brands, trust me when i say i`ve seen some pretty dumb decisions when customers stepped over a dollar just to pick up a dime, as well. It ended up with them learning a VERY valuable lesson 95% of the time. Sometimes you can`t teach people anything either. Whats that old saying.... you cant always remove the stupid, out of stupid.

To each their own... but if you have to cheap out on your parts, and you cant prove that the OEM parts are worse/junk.... well....

Gee the filter comes out the same door as the Kubota filters, but is it the same specs? filter paper? area of paper? number of pleats? and the same relief setting on the spring?

And yes I use the OEM oil filters and my dealer beats NAPA prices every day.

NAPA and WIX still spec the incorrect fuel filters with the incorrect micron rating for my BX2230, G2160 and RTV-1100

Like I said there was at least one person that used a non Kubota hydro filter and they had issues.

And in case you have not noticed Kubota has been spending a lot of money on smart label technology to keep counterfeits out of the supply chain and that means something also that if they do put importance in their quality checks why put expensive labels with seals on the packages?

The same could be said for any product

I agree. The OEM batteries in all the new Kubota tractors I've purchased lasted 8+ years. I'm lucky to get 5 years out of an identical replacement OEM battery purchased from a dealer. I've found this to be true for automotive batteries as well.

I work for a national equipment rental company and we use all Baldwin filters on our equipment. We own 8+ billion dollars in fleet, I am sure we would not put it at risk by using an inferior filter. My guess is you will be fine using Baldwin.

I hear ya. I bet all these people go to the dealer for tires ,and even juice for their radiator.
Ya know, That radiator juice, and air that goes in your tires are OEM and not the same as everyone's
tires, air ,or water

I've seen tires and radiators explode from using non OEM air, and radiator juice !

While it's not a tractor filter there could be some correlation. Both of my newer highway vehicles a 2015 RAM 1500 and a 2013 Chevy Equinox use a replaceable cartridge type element,
you can see the actual filter media like most of the old fashioned filters used to be. I have a habit of changing my oil and filters more often then required, it is interesting looking at and comparing the filters I put in to the ones that I remove. I change the oil and filter at 50 % on the monitors and take it to the dealers most of the time at 100%. I like the NAPA Gold filters and from what I have seen they are as good or better then the OEM filters from the dealers.
Of course this is only my personal opinion.
And we all know that opinions are like a**holes we all have one and they all stink except mine. :drink:

Last week I was at the local dealership visiting some friends that work there. There was a Buick SUV of some model in one bay with the engine removed and partially torn apart. I asked my friend what happened to it since it appeared very new. He said cam chains are bad with 50K miles on it. I said how can that be? He said it's common on GM vehicles with owners that use the oil monitor to determine changes. Another mechanic said he has seen them with 20K miles on an oil change before the monitor says it needs changed.

No flame, just perked my response when you mentioned oil change monitors. :)

Yeah, I hear ya. The factory uses nothing but the best of parts on vehicles.
That's why there are Billions of $$ made each year by the auto parts stores and auto repair shops across the US

The manufacture of kubota filters can put any label on the filters. Unless kubota has an engineer on site and test every filter that comes off the line, One will never know if every filter is the same.

I'll continue to use better oil, parts, and filters as good as,or better than I can buy at the dealer.

I'll let ya know when My kubota comes apart from using a filter by the same company that makes the kubota filters

I guess I really screwed up buying my UTD fluid (that meets Kubots specs.) from tractor supply

I don't think anyone in this discussion needs to defend their choices. Filter varieties are very similar to sock varieties. Each of us have our preference. :)
