Help! Bobcat 225 can't even pickup a 1500lb round bale with 3 point

I'm just going by farmers word.
Actually 1 bail I was able to get off ground with front loader.
So it was lighter.
So if I fill front bucket with some super heavy weight, my chances are bigger on rear end lift?
I'm using a 55 gallon barrel filled half of concrete, then 2 10×10×12 steel weights.
Doesn't help front loader. I use to keep 4 wheel drives from SNAPPING rings, as I've read in other posts.

Adding counter weight does not increase your hydraulic power it just properly ballasts your tractor. Without enough counter weight the front (or rear respectively) will want to lift or become unstable.
I agree with others on checking your hydro relief pressure, it’s very easy to do once you get a gauge. However if you are going to be lifting 1500 # plus bails regularly I would consider a larger tractor with 2-2500 # loader cap.

Thanks, I couldn't really see the ballast making It lift more. I want to see what she's pumping.
I m going to have to find another hay farmer with smaller rounds.

Thank you! My wife just shakes her head!
She knows I'm gonna say, " I need a BIGGER tractor!" LOL!
Happy Holidays!
Or like you figured out smaller bales.

Just the ballast will make it safer to move about.

Thank you! Good info to try.

You can see the different holes here (their lift arms are in the furthest back holes):

Also, you can lift the front end up with the loader (point the bucket lip down and lift the front wheels off of the ground), then lift the 3 point as high as it will go and then lower the bucket.
On our B7500 that gained us 4-6 more inches of lift on the bale.

That's it boys, LOAD up the 3 point real good and TURN UP the hydraulic pressure for the loader!

That way you can keep your dealer in business, selling front parts to you!

I just want to see if hyd pressure is correct.
According to the manual 1508lbs
It doesn't even act close to trying

Don't forget that's at the pins.
1100lbs 24" behind the pins.
A 1500lb round bail sticks back farther than that and your lift capacity will be much lower farther back.

Thank you! Understand exactly what your saying, or what the manual is saying!
I'm seeking smaller bales.
Right now I'm in central il.
We've been in drought mode.
Soooo, beggars can't be choosers!
All I can find are BIG bales.

Look for someone who bales for 'horse people'. I was surprised by one delivery when I bought 20 round bales, only to have them show up as half sized! The bloke said he bales that way for the horsey people who don't have a tractor and manhandle them. I had no idea that someone would bale to that dimension... maybe you could request them from whoever you buy from.

Or, get a new tractor that can handle the full rounds (future thinking). You need it! ;)

We got a Ford 552 round baler this summer, it does 5' wide bales and I can make them anywhere from 1' to 5' in diameter. I try for 4' in diameter which means that they generally end up between 3.5' and 4.5' in diameter.
To get a smaller size, you might need to commit to buying a certain number of that size (or look for someone who makes 4x4 round bales).

Getting a larger tractor is always an acceptable answer around here when we are spending someone else's money :D.

I understand where you are coming from - However
A lot of folks over time here have found the factory setting was low. My dealer adjusted mine back to normal and added about 10%. They indicated I could go more if needed without issue. I fond now I can do what I want to comfortably. Any more and my butt meter would complain. When I first got the tractor I could not raise the front axle off the ground, even with the curl. Now I can.

Thank you so much for this info!
I can't pick up my front tires!
I'm an equipment operator for my municipality! Bulldozers, enloaders, backhoe, etc.
I'm not used to my equipment being such a pussycat!
This tractor to me is a PUSSYCAT!
Thanks for the response!

You should be able to lift the front tires off of the ground (by dumping the bucket if nothing else), if not, the pressure relief is probably set too low.

I wish I could remember where I saw a 3pt version of this. It was very similar, but used hydraulics to tip the bale up on the dolly wheels
That would be nice!
