Buying Advice I Hate Trips to the Dealer...

Robert,
For 27 years I had a rear mount, 3-point, snow blower. I have a mile long gravel driveway, yard & large mail box area to clear. I normally would clear all these areas with my rear blade. Oh, I had a 1982 Ford 1700 4WD - bought brand new in '82. I ONLY used the blower if and when the frozen berms got so big that I couldn't break them with the rear blade.

Most years I would use the blower maybe two times. However, I got to hating that rear blower so much - in 2009 I upgraded to my current 2009 Kubota M6040. Stiff necks, sore shoulders, having the small pines shower me with snow as I went on by, no matter where you point the chute, the winds brings fine snow/mist back to cover you - now, a thing of the past.

Anyhow - my Kubota as currently set up weighs in at 10,100 pounds and with the 1000 pound Rhino 950 rear blade I clear any and all berms as though they are made of cotton candy.

My response... look at the list to the left... I'm a Kubota crackhead...:confused3:
I simply can't help myself. I slow down when I pass a Kubota dealer on the road, I drool on the steering wheel... and usually drive off the road rubber necking the whole way.

Those front mount snowblowers are the cat's ***. The only reason I would go with a rear mount would be for my 5 series deere to be able to handle the HP.
We have a 7' front mount Loftness on our L3830 that runs off of the rear PTO. It came off of a 60ish HP NH and I would guess that they could set you up with something similar.
I might look into building or buying a hydraulic power pack and putting the blower on the loader.

Does that setup use a power pack or is it shaft driven? I don't really have a need for a snow blower on the 5 series. That's an interesting idea but probably not very cost effective. I have a 10' snow pusher that makes short work of just about everything we get here in PA.

An M6040 would be more than overkill for me. For 15 years, I used a rear blade and front end loader. I figured the blower would be the cats meow. I bought it three seasons ago, it's NEVER been used. I was originally thinking when I retired, I would not be interested in freezing my giblets off for hours in a west wind trying to open my drive with a rear blade or loader. Been there. It took me 4-1/2 hours to scoop and pile snow, when I could have blown it away in 45 minutes. Then, it drifts back in. With a blower, the snow is gone.
I think I'll put my blower on Craigs and see if I can sell it this winter. I'll move snow with the loader and gat a rear blade. Then, next summer, I'll order the front blower and QA for my BX2570. I don't need an 80-Series. I'll keep telling myself this and hope it sinks in. I watched the video to see how easy the new 4 point front QA works, and it is way ahead of the old. That would be another reason I'd like an 80. But, how often will the 4-point be used? Hmmmm. Just like my current blower?

Yea - well maybe the 3-point blower wouldn't be so bad if you had a cab. But, first off - the 3-point blower is slower than cold snot, and without a cab and some heat my neck & shoulders would get so STIFF. I tried Jack Daniels - but I was 3/4 looped before there was any relief from the stiffness - it wasn't a good situation.

With the blower it would take me 3 1/2 to 4 hours to clear the yard, driveway and mailbox area. With my rear blade I'm done in 1 1/2 hours and it been all driving forward. I think you have the answer. A front blower would be a real relief, easy on all the joints that otherwise would get stiff & sore.

It is shaft driven off of the rear PTO with a pair of gearboxes and 1.5" shafts.

Both front tires on the bx2200 were leaking and I just took them to Big-O and had them put tubes in. Maybe you should had went to Big-O's. They don't have nice shiney, pretty, new smelling tractors in the show room. Only tires and rims for sale and maybe a peanut vending machine.
