Just to clarify hydraulic oil and gear oil isn稚 the same thing. As for the other issues I don稚 loose much sleep over mixing oils.
True. But, hydraulic transmission oil, and 80w gear oil are basically the same thing. And, therefore interchangeable in many applications.
Even 30w engine oil is sometimes used in the same applications.
The only difference is the additives.
There's a chart on the www showing engine oil, gear oils and trans/hyd fluid side by side. Viscosity comparisons are interesting.
On hyd fluids per se, there are 3 basic fluids: Hyd fluid, trans/hyd fluid (JD 303 popular spec) and premium trans hyd fluid, for wet brakes, hydrostats and all the new goodies (JD 20C for a popular spec), and then there are the individual companies additive specs and dino and syn base stocks to consider..............Daaaaaaaaa
Is Hydraulic Gear Oil All the Same for Tractors?

Yes, I am familiar with that chart, I have posted them.
I don't agree that transmission fluid, and "premium" transmission fluid are two different categories. It's still the same product, with different additives. It simply has evolved, just like anything else.
Well then the oils would be different, not the same .
Stop right there . Do not be adding SAE90 gear oil to a Deere that uses Hy-Gard in the transmission and hydraulics . Not the 都ame?
Oil must be wet clutch compatable .
