I did say: "Hydraulic transmission oil, and 80w gear oil are BASICALLY the same thing. And, therefore interchangeable in many applications.

Meaning on a "basic" level.

Which is a fact.

Yes, I am familiar with that chart, I have posted them.

I don't agree that transmission fluid, and "premium" transmission fluid are two different categories. It's still the same product, with different additives. It simply has evolved, just like anything else.

Having additives to suit certain functions that aren't used/available on certain equipment and thus aren't needed, to me constitutes 2 categories of requirements depicting 2 different categories of fluid to support the respective buyer's pocket book and expectations. I have both kinds/categories of tractors and I don't use premium oil in my Fords that don't require it.....saves money.
