Interesting place here, weather now updated to 6-10 inches with 50mph wind gusts. Need to go find food (dinner), and do some first hand observations on people. LOL. In DC there would be a panic run in the stores for that forecast. LOL.

I hope all have a safe evening and can hunker down for this storm. Good luck to the early risers. Be safe if you must venture forth.

Folks in Big Apple are tough. Those wind gusts will not make the streets fun at all. Be safe and don't fall Riptides.
Bring your wife back some good ice cream.

31 degrees in freezing rain. Snow west of here, not far away, hasn't turned to white stuff yet but likely will shortly.
I made a final cup of coffee, had a nice dinner mostly of collards that this time I cooked to death and covered in bacon and cheddar cheese, nice healthy vegetable to start anyway...

Going to see what Amazon Prime movies are new tonight. Otherwise it's back to the book
and will the good guys and good aliens beat the bad aliens.

18F with a little light snow @ 18:00 ... overnight low only going down to 9F tonight. The only problem with that is, it only comes back up to 10F for the high tomorrow and once the front comes through it just continues to drop.

Ran over to The Depot to pick up paint and some LED bulbs for the fish room. Didn't realize they don't actually stock that particular paint ... has to be ordered in ... so that was a bust. I did get the bulbs though - six dimmable 90W equivalent BR40 floods (5000K color temp) for the recessed can lights in the ceiling. Installed them when I got back ... WOW ... did that ever make a difference ... toss in the 100W equivalent A19 I stuck in the entry way hall coming in, and that's over 9000 lumens illuminating the room ... fish will probably have to wear sunglasses.

Grabbed the Sawzall from out in the garage after that so I can cut a hole out in one wall to install a door ... just sitting here debating whether I want to put my shoes on and go back out and get the toolbox out of the car.

Guess I probably better ... it sure ain't gonna get any warmer anytime soon ...

The snow that was promised came. The actual forecast was for 1-2cm. That would be just under 1". 2.54cm=1". What I scraped off the driveway was 8". They say we can see another 2-4cm or 1.5" maximum. Any bets we get about 32"? I gotta love the Canadian weather service, they are never right, not even close.

Blizzard warnings from 7 tonight until 1 pm tomorrow. 5”-8” tonight, 1”-3” tomorrow is the latest.

Drew, I was back at her place watching recorded Jeopardy shows before the first flake.

Good evening all. 17F for the start, cloudy, light north wind. Wind was 12-17 or so today, sky cleared off, and high temp was 48F. There was .9 inches of ice in the rain gauge, and ice on a lot of the coves of the lake. This was the first time to warm over the freezing point since Dec 30, I think. Cleaned up the kitchen, watched some recorded TV, and went for the first bike ride of 2018. New cold weather gear worked well, will try it at a cooler temp.

Rip, good to hear progress, prayers for a Friday return home!

Buckeye, sorry to hear about your addition work, they giving you a price break?

Randy hope you had fun. Had dinner with a friend while in STL, lost his wife to a heart attack after 27 years together, mention this was 7th Christmas without her. I don't think he has been on a date yet.

RNG enjoyed the trip update, rubber side down

Bird prayers for the next procedure for your wife and you.

Welcome new guys and welcome back mia people.

Good morning. With the shortest day long gone I was hoping to see the sun a little earlier each day. That hasn't happened yet, dark mornings are quite a contrast to these last few nights that have been bathed in brilliant moonlight.

At first I thought the lack of daylight must be my imagination, until a bit of reading this morning confirmed that while the solar day has indeed been getting longer, sunrise relative to clock time is actually still a couple of minutes later than it was at the winter solstice. It is all to do with there not being exactly 24 hours in a day and it took more than a single cup of tea to get my head around this. Maybe I should drink more coffee - or just stay in bed a little longer in January :)

Y'all take care in the snow.

David, can't be much snow in paradise to cushion your fall, so you take care too.

Overslept this morning!!! Set my alarm for the trip to CT (which has been postponed for a week due to the weather), alarm went off at 0200, shut it off and dozed)

4 degrees right now...high about 20. Still looking at 3-6 inches (but might be a bit more, depending on the storm's track) and blustery winds.
