What did you do on the first day of retirement?

I had a love/hate relationship with my job. I mostly loved it but hated some of the petty annoyances. I survived it and have been so grateful that I was able to stick it out.

My unabashed opinion of retirement is: "Everyday is a Holiday and Every Meal is a Feast".

I am a number of years from that day but imagine I will get up as if it were a Saturday and do what I always do. Start with coffee. Work the property, do the honey dos, whatever needs to be done.... oh, and go fishing.

Where and what do you fish? Maybe we need a PNW members thread?

Sorry. What a dunce... I have been here for about 5 years and did not realize this! :duh: As soon as I posted I felt bad for the derail. Now subscribed to PNW forum. Thanks.

That part my routine is often when I am up on my Clallam Co. property then it is seasonal salmon. I live in Kitsap but most of my property is up in Clallam. In Kitsap I grow oysters and clams on my beach. And drop crab pots when I can. I hope to do it a lot more when I retire.

When cashiers or whatever tell me have a nice day or something like that, I always think to my self that I'm retired; every day is a nice day...

I didn't retire Cat_Driver but at 50 I made a dramatic change in life, bought a 12 acre olive farm in Provence France. The first day I was here I took off my watch and have never put it back on. Just not wearing a watch and being a slave to time as in "I want to get this done before noon," changes everything. I, for the first time started working at my pace. So my suggestion is to not put on your watch. I have a clock on the wall, if I really want to know what time it is I get up and go look. Not wearing a watch is especially nice when you are working outdoors.

Funny you should mention the watch thing. Almost 40 years ago I stopped wearing a watch to work. (for that job)

Now on my days off, I don't wear a watch.

For a quarter century I was the closer or late shift... if they needed me earlier I would get a call... happened a couple of times each month...

Really enjoyed no alarm clock and just waking up and getting ready for the day.

The last 10 months I open... that means a little after 4 am out the door... no way to do that without the alarm... although on my days off I still wake up around 4!

I don’t wear a watch either, I look at my phone. :D
