That looks like a shaker grate to me, move the crank back and forth and shake the ashes down to the ash pan. Some of the old kitchen ranges had them in a triangular shape that rotated to drop the ash down while keeping the burning coal on top. My insert has flat finger type grates with a crank handle that you rock back and forth to shake the ash down while retaining the burning coal on top. If you go to far you will dump the fire and unburnt coal also.

So would I. I plowed in the city of Toronto (3 years), Hwy 401 east (2 years), Hwy 400 north (1 year) and in York Region (4 years). Now I plow for myself and a few disabled neighbours.

We got some snow overnight,not sure how much. The low is setting at 27* this morning. It was in the low 40's yesterday. Today is going to be mostly cloudy and windy, with the high in the 30's.

The wind was bad last night so we got some drifting with the snow. But still can see some gravel on the driveway. I'll go out and work on the drifts later.

I enjoy reading about what everyone is doing and all the different weather over the country ( Canada and the U.K included ). And I'm learning things along the way. It makes life interesting.

We are under a Winter Weather Advisory for Saturday due to possible freezing/frozen precipitation and a flash freeze as that arctic airmass moves in.

I agree about the Great Lakes Clipper midweek for NE. Some weather models are starting to toy with a possible phasing of jet streams and the development of a coastal storm. Too early to know for sure.

I wish I had not broken the rain gauge.

If it does and that's a big if too far north for us to get in the action. So many models now so many different solutions. We are also under a flash freeze watch

We got our flash freeze this morning. The temp when I got up was 40F and now it is down to 19F and snowing again. At this time of year at least up here the snow is better for us than rain.

Kyle, would the Meguiars plastic polish and cleaner work on shining up the green molded plastic parts on my John Deere Zero Turn?

The parts on both sides of the seat are plastic, everything else is steel.

Rick, perfect use for it. Will honestly keep it looking like new unless there is physical damage.
Instead of waxing the new deck, I just soaked a small microfiber towel with 303 and wiped the entire deck down.
Now that does leave a little bit of streaking on flat surfaces. Easy to buff out. Otherwise it's like putting sun tan lotion on,
apparently very high UV protection. I don't know if your blue fades, but my Kubota without 303 (the roof) is an entirely different color than the
treated areas.
I generally use it once a year on everything, and sometimes more often on the fenders and areas that really get beat up. UTV seats, just about anything.
It will make seats a little slippery, they all seem to do that but it's the least slippery I've found. Armorall may very well have a comparable product.
Keeps door rubber seals soft too.

I wonder if Armorall came out as a reaction to the beginning of cracked plastic dashes in cars...
I immediately soak my dash top in 303 when I get a new car. Have to be careful of materials of course. I personally would not get it near leather but
I don't think your ZT is that fancy...

72 degrees out, hard to believe. Inside of house is actually hot at 73 and I sure don't have it set that high.

spent several hours printing as carefully as I could making vegetable name cards. Magic marker on white plastic, unforgiving.
Thailand, Iraq, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Turkey among the countries of origin represented, as well as Virginia and Alabama for
okra. Now where could Rocky Top salad mix be from? And the Amish melons...could be a bunch of States. Peaceful melons, my kind,
maybe they'll weed themselves. Just in case they don't, I'm buying a lot of straw.
My garden is intentionally like the United Nations. Perhaps I can persuade them all to get along.

Thanks Drew. The plastic parts are a bit dull from getting too close to bushes, etc.

I may try some of Kyle’s Meguiars plastic polish and cleaner, then some 303.

I’d like to get the plastic shined up then apply new decals I bought.

You might look into a label printer Drew. I’ve used below Brother P-Touch for many years, mostly for file folder labels but it’s been very handy.

I admit to following the different weather models for each pending/possible weather event that comes my (NE) way; especially during the Winter. I agree about the different weather models and their respective solutions. I am not married to any one particular model. Some years and with some certain pattern dynamic setups some models seem to be more accurate as I am trying to learn. It seems that the Japanese, Canadian, and Navy weather models are more accurate this year so far.

It's not a "sickness;" it's a hobby.
