The town of "Madrid, NM" is now a real artsy and strange collaboration of shops, all in the old coal company houses. There is a museum, vaudeville theater, and the " Mine Shaft Tavern" which has some of the best food around and live folk music. Google the town, pretty neat history. Maybe get some coal from there.

I spent a lot of time in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, and visited Madrid several times. "Strange collaboration" is putting it kindly. One part Native American, one part cowboy, one part Old Mexico, and about five parts Hippie. If NM ever legalizes marijuana, look for Madrid to really boom!

Speaking of weather, was glancing over at the weather/home control laptop and noticed one of the curves moving up to 70. I was getting excited before I looked closer and it was 70% humidity, not degrees. It's been a mix of fog and sun today, and you can really feel the temperature drop when the fog comes in.

Doesn't seem to bother the deer, though, as they've been very busy trying to keep the grass cut.

A big flock of blackbirds landed in back this morning, filling up the trees and brush and all over the yard. Then this afternoon the backyard was full of robins

Last time I came into Albuquerque from the West it was sleeting so hard that I literally lost AM reception and tuned in an FM station in my 68 Sport Fury until the sleet let up. That was Thanksgiving week 1972.

"I just look outside for the weather. The weather guessers change all the time."- Buckeyefarmer

It would probably help my mental status if I just focused on cloud patterns and wind shifts which are really predictive of pending weather.

A lot of individuals around here whose livelihood depend on climate/weather can read weather better than most ProMets; better than I with all my maps. I have been seriously impressed with their "gifts."

I am happy to read that you have had no new reactions. I hope that you get it figured out. Have you thought about the foods that you have been eating?
Dad, being a farmer, always watched the weather. I just check my phone app, which changes constantly.

No different foods either. Will see how my other med does later tonight.

Thank you very much, Don! I ended up with this one from Breville. It just so happened that Consumer Reports reviewed them last month, and this one got a top rating. I was amazed at how easy it worked it's way through the single microwaved spud I fed it. Or how good that potato tasted with just a clove of fresh garlic blended in.

Got any more favorite recipes?

Ooo I like that Breville. I like the container that comes with it, it could make some good pico de gallo. Might have to put that on my list. Those emersion stick blenders are great for thickening up soup also. Just don't use it too much or it turns to baby food.

Just before we headed out to dinner, the wife, looking out the kitchen window, commented on a deer browsing out on the perimeter of the west lawn. Actually there were two.

As we made the turn off the driveway a few minutes later, there were a dozen of them near the road at the edge of the property.

How they can survive this cold I have no idea.

El Jalapeno's was excellent, had the seafood enchiladas ... first time I've eaten there. The Woman has been raving about it for more than a year.

10F and partly cloudy ... a cat to right, a cat to the left, and a glass of Kahlua and cream ... life is good.

-3 this morning. Made it to 25 today. Currently 23. Snow showers moving in. Main clipper system supposed to be here mid morning tomorrow. Additional 2 inches forecast.

Last half of birds scheduled to leave tomorrow night. Talked to the guy in charge of the producers today. He says everything is still on schedule and they don’t plan to change it. He did say he was out today and liked my snow removal efforts, but was not impressed with the county.

So let’s hope that I will be empty tomorrow and can start decaking Tuesday. If I can get the decaker moved in here. I share one with my in laws.

Good evening all. 26F this morning, clear sky. light wind. Temp warmed to 51F, wind stayed moderate, and sky mostly clear. Chapel this morning, KP duty, lunch, nap, bike ride and prep stove for next week. Front comes through tomorrow morning, will get cold here for most of the week. Have been having trouble with keyboard last several days. Changed batteries, then moved dongle (wireless) seems to be behaving better tonight :)

Rip glad you are home, sounds like progress being made, prayers for that to continue.

Drew learned to fly in college, not active now, wanted to retire early, and too expensive to maintain proficiency levels.

Buckeye, sounds like you are getting a handle on your health, prayers for progress to continue.

Ed hope you are experiencing as much progress as it sounds, prayers for progress to continue.
