Home Defense Max using label directions will keep them out, very easy to use.

That's what I use now-a-days.

I asked the "talking head" at that barbecue joint if the ribs were parboiled He said absolutely "NO."............ Trust me they were parboiled. How can anyone ruin a good rack of ribs with parboiling them before smoking them is beyond me. Maybe some of the participants here can set me straight with parboiling, but why drain a tasty, greasy piece of meat of flavors by boiling it before cooking it. The brisket seemed boiled too :eek" No real crust and absolutely no smoke rind band. This seems to be a NE thing....... wrong..... wrong. In defense of NE barbecue joints the iced tea can come unsweetened. The last time I had Southern iced tea I almost got out of the truck to run beside it.

I never heard of parboiling a brisket.

Filled up my paper shredder, wonder if that shredded paper would make good garden mulch?

When I was raising rabbits (New Zealand White), shredded newspaper was the best nest material I ever found. And after use, I tilled it into the garden.

29 degrees going for a high of 55 today; supposed to be clear and sunny.

19 this morning on its way up to the 30's. Going to be great weather tomorrow so the youngster and I will head out to the hard water for some fishing.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!

20 and going to 32 with a 40% chance of flurries. Wind SSW 15 mph. Those flurries could be just a skiff right up to 8" depending on mother natures whims.

txdon, if you laminate that card and keep it with your drivers license, then there will be less chance of you losing/misplacing it.

Pork loin is on sale today $2.99/lb. I guess I will go to town and get me some. The list got longer than I planned for. DIL looked at the flyer from the grocery store and now it is about a $100. list + the pork. We gotta eat so I really don't mind all that much. It is a long stretch from 5 days before Christmas to the end of January when you are on a 'fixed income'. They are both on ODSP (disability) and I am on CPP + OAS (Canada Pension Plan + Old Age Security).
They would have been okay for money if it weren't for the $135. taxi fare from Huntsville to South River and the $110. taxi from North Bay to S.R., when the DIL was taken to the hospital twice between Christmas and New Years.

Happy Friday and stay safe all,

23°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 48° today. Got up to 47° yesterday, so it may get even warmer than that.

Stopped at a car wash on the way home from work yesterday and sprayed the salt off of my car. I was beginning to worry that I might step out the door one morning and find deer licking it. It's silver once again.

That's a great-looking tractor, E. Congrats.

Eric, I see that your storm has made national news on this side of the pond as well. It apparently wreaked quite the havoc while rolling through Germany.

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 5:30AM. Overcast with showers at times. High 47F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.

Rained all day yesterday but the weather station didn't record any precipitation. Time to go see what's wrong with it I guess.

Roll with the punches, Rip. One day things'll settle back down and you'll be able to start sleeping again like you used to. But for now, just take it as it goes and know it's not forever.

Hope the fun of a new tractor lasts a good long time for you, E.!

Went to superglue a rubber edging on the panel I made for the old bike yesterday, and all three "one use" tubes of Krazy Glue were empty. Each was sealed, so I wonder if they ever even had anything in them. Had a couple tubes of Harbor Freight gel superglue on hand, so used that, but it doesn't dry very fast and had to let the panel sit overnight with LOTS of rubber bands all over it. Took the steering bearings apart and found tapered roller bearings, so one less thing to worry about. They were set up too loose, now that's fixed, too. Didn't like the chrome plating on the two bolts that hold the fork tubes in place, so re-opened the box that's headed to the plater and added them. I'll drop the box off at the PO while I'm in town today. I'll also drop by the BMW dealer to pick up a pair of rubber grommets that'll keep the spark plug wires from chafing on the engine case. They were in stock, not bad for a 54 year old motorcycle.

TGIF gang!:drink:

Parboil something to go in the smoker? NO WAY! I think there are laws to keep people from doing that.

Sounds like they foil over their meat to get it cooked quicker and only get smoke on it for a short time for a little smoke flavor. Sounds like tourist food.

Was 25 when I went out this morning...much better than the 8 degrees it got down to yesterday. Still a fair amount of snow left, except in the sunny areas. I can't get over how many miles the foxes travel at night, based on their tracks.

Should see 51 today...maybe 60 tomorrow, so vehicle washing may be added to the plan.

Love your new tractor, Einthewoods. Hope you catch a bunch of fish...through the ice, I guess?

Our lifetime NP card is hard plastic, too. Has saved a lot of money.

Ron, I'd hate to add up how much in birdseed we have gone through this year...many 40 lb mixed-seed bags from Costco, 40 or 50 lb bags or sunflower seed from TSC, thistle seed, raw peanuts, and many pounds of suet and our special peanut butter/cornmeal/lard mix for the insect eaters...as well as meal worms.

Thanks! I am loving the tractor!

Yep, ice fishing. Love it. A bit of work to get setup but after that it is just good time away from phones and TV and visitors. Have some great conversations with the kids out sitting on the ice.

Need to fill bird feeder again today. I started out with 200 lbs last October. Now down to last 20lbs. Been refilling the one 3 gallon feeder every 3 days since Christmas. Mostly feed Chickadees and sparrows. Blue Jays, Woodpeckers, Cardinals and Doves also feed. Squirrels cannot get to feeder. But do feed on the ground. 2 or 3 deer stop by at night. They also feed off the ground. Anyone else feeding a large amount of bird seed?
Need add to my list of thing to do today. Buy more bird seed. Winter is not 1/2 over yet.
Picture was taken in October.

Ron, my mom always fed the birds. Was a bird watcher. Dad still feeds them. Go thru several large bags of food each yr. One large feeder right in front of picture window.
