RNG- It's so sad that people feeling so depressed, so powerless, so trapped, so unloved/unwanted, so angry that they feel that ending their lives becomes the only option. Anti-depressants can actually "activate" the depressed individual enough to carry out their "action plan" that previously was not acted upon because the individual was too de-energized by the depression itself. There can be other more pathological motives as well,.
I had to assess for dangerousness my entire professional career and unfortunately I did lose a few some even purportedly supervised. The DMH regional office tried to hold me responsible for a "swan dive" off a building. The Director even told me that the area office staff and he as well tried, but my documentation saved my @r$e. Ultimately others were found irresponsible.
This old adage as told to my by an old psychiatrist really helped me: "'Jumpers" don't call, and 'callers' don't jump." Many times after the fact those most involved with the deceased find hidden, subtle clues and then blame themselves for not having perceived/understood the clues.
