Hi i have a A4-212 perkins in a 50A backhoe just wondering if anyone knows direction of front crankshaft pulley nut, will have to use a chisel to try and undo as previous owners have butchered the nut and dont know if its l/h or r/h cheers Ted

Hi Jon thanks for that ,i was laying into it with cold chisel but it wont budge may have to use some heat kind regards Ted

If you can see any of the threads on the crankshaft, you can tell if it is right or left.

Did you apply any penetrating oil?

Hi Xfaxman yes used heaps of loctite freeze and release and cant see any of the thread so i think the only way out of this is to use heat as the nut end is absolutely butchered Cheers Ted

It might be pipe wrench time.

What size is the nut? Depending on its size, you may be better off using a nut breaking tool VS pounding on it with a chisel.

They come in various sizes and work really, really well at not damaging the threads.

Do you have enough room to possibly place a nut and weld it onto the bolt head (weld inside of nut). Welding a new "head" plus the heat may break it loose.
