34 going to 54 and clear out - just saw a shooting star...always a delight.

Got to 73 yesterday before the high winds and downpour hit.

Wawa is building a new gas station/food store on the corner of US 1 and England Street in Ashland. They tore down a whole block of old buildings, mostly old houses converted into commercial establishments, including the best bar-b-q joint in the area. Amazing how fast a couple of big excavators converted that block to bare ground again. About 2 blocks away the most famous bar-b-q place around was torn down (The Smokey Pig) and replaced with an O'Reilly's auto parts place. I'm not sure it's really progress when you replace pork with gas and oil :).

The funny thing is that the nearby Sheetz has now torn down their fairly recently built gas station/convenience store only to rebuild it bigger and better to compete with Wawa. These are 2 very similar gas station/convenience/fancy deli stores out of Pennsylvania that are apparently doing really well. Hopefully a gas war will be in their future.

Speaking of gas, I need to fill up the truck and the gas and diesel cans today.

riptides, hope your wife is doing better.

Here Royal Farms, WaWa and Goose Creek are building huge food centers that also sell gas. It’s hard to tell whether there are more drug stores or convenience stores.

I replaced the 14 year old Trojan batteries in my cart 3 years ago. To make sure the Trojans are properly charged I purchased a Battery Saver Charger. It amazes me how fast the charger can charge the batteries back up. Plus it does desulfating.

thanks Ron. Where do the leads go? on one battery or one at one end of the bank and the other at the other side? Haven't charged batteries in series before.

On the 2 ends where 48 volt cables go out to the controls.
This type charger is very popular with old car people.
Amazon has cheaper prices than the site I linked.

3 above going to 12 with a 30% chance of flurries. Wind NW 7 mph.

Yesterdays 1/4" of ice on top of the snow made for easy walking. Just bust through the ice.

After I plowed we got another 3", so I will plow that this morning.
I have a mail/grub run to do today and I'll get another can of fuel as well. I have 2 empties, one full and 4 hours of running on a full tank. I only put 20 bux worth in my 5 gallon cans to make them easier for my old arms to lift them onto my hood. I just worked it out and that equates to about 4.5 US gallons.
I use a 'jiggle siphon' to get the fuel into the tank. Not the easiest, but it works for me.

That is all I've got on the agenda for today.

Have a safe day all,

Drinking second cup of coffee. 24° with some snowflakes floating in the air. Heading to 28° with cloudy skies. A couple of in house projects to do today.
Updating apple software again. Still have wife's iPad to do.
Not sure what it means. But the 3 Sandhill Cranes that we see in our back yard often. Were there yesterday. I thought they went south for the winter?
Don, I think your albino turtle has spent to much time in the TX sun.
Prayers for everyone, it seems we all need them.
Good Morning All.

28F and winds gusting ~25mph presently. I am pretty much at today's high temperature as this cold front blows through.

A trip to the dentist soon and then I "need" to get my hairs cut. I already trimmed away my "walrus" look for the dental tech.

RoyJackson- I was happy to read you made your trip to CT and back w/o incident. The construction on I91 in MA and especially around Springfield is horrible on a good day and compounding the challenges you had lots of bad weather/driving conditions with which to deal yesterday. A couple of fatal highway accidents down in that area recently. The highway design down there is irrational. The civil engineers who designed that part of the highway system must have been impaired during the planning stages.

Another school shooting. No parent should have to experience the loss of their child/children. My + thoughts, prayers, and wishes for all those effected.

I hope that Riptide and his wife are ok.

My + thoughts and wishes and prayers for all; especially those who are sick and/or recovering.

I hope everyone has a good day or at least a manageable one.

Got him. This pic from 50 yards
Your Turtle looks more like a Box Turtle. Box turtles draw their head, feet and tail inside shell. Then shell closes off to protect them. Snapping turtles can pull the head, feet and tail inside shell. But cannot close off the shell. They protect themselves by snapping at anything they think is attacking them. I will let you do the finger test to see which type you have.

Ed, prayers for you, you have a lot to deal with and always sound like youæ±*e smiling.

That's funny, I thought I was grumpy most of the time. :)

Still have 5 deer in the field this late in the morning.

I get my gas and groceries at Martins, another Pa export. With the discounts and good gas mileage I often pay less than $1 gal.

Have a great day. Ed

Good morning all. I see the sun is up, and wow, what a temp swing yesterday. I was making numerous drug runs. Those controlled narcotics make for some interesting paper work collections at the doctors and pharmacy. I *think* we are almost weaned off one, but the others will take a few more weeks, if the pain doesn't show up. Her internal pain meter is set a lot higher than most people I know, she tolerates it in ways I can only imagine.

I hope to get her outside today, for an extended stay. The sunshine will do us both good.

With all the wind these last few days, I need to do the pick-up-sticks routine and move it to the burn pile. That needs to be lit soon...

Looks to be about 34 out, with a high in the upper 40's. A far cry from yesterdays high....

Prayers to all. And, please, have a great day. Be safe!
