34 going to 54 and clear out - just saw a shooting star...always a delight.
Got to 73 yesterday before the high winds and downpour hit.
Wawa is building a new gas station/food store on the corner of US 1 and England Street in Ashland. They tore down a whole block of old buildings, mostly old houses converted into commercial establishments, including the best bar-b-q joint in the area. Amazing how fast a couple of big excavators converted that block to bare ground again. About 2 blocks away the most famous bar-b-q place around was torn down (The Smokey Pig) and replaced with an O'Reilly's auto parts place. I'm not sure it's really progress when you replace pork with gas and oil
.
The funny thing is that the nearby Sheetz has now torn down their fairly recently built gas station/convenience store only to rebuild it bigger and better to compete with Wawa. These are 2 very similar gas station/convenience/fancy deli stores out of Pennsylvania that are apparently doing really well. Hopefully a gas war will be in their future.
Speaking of gas, I need to fill up the truck and the gas and diesel cans today.
riptides, hope your wife is doing better.
