Can I put a plug in (pardon my pun) for new plug wires? Those crackly paint ones are out of style. There are some suppliers that produce yellow insulated plug wires.

Funny you mention that. I bought new cotton braid, year correct wires...I left them outside on the table where I'm working and came back a few hours later to find my dog chewed them all to ****. Oh man I was so mad, I could have shot that d@mn dog. Kinda feel sick about buying another set. LOL. Well guess I will now.

Same issue with whether to paint or not with my new to me 1955 Super A, just as peely and nasty looking as this tractor, but so far I'm doing just what Mopardude is doing.
Though I can't wait to degrease and gently wash off. My 4000 psi powerwasher would take every bit of remaining paint off, but when something that looks
old runs young, well that at least to me can be more interesting.
Unlike Mopardude I'm no mechanic so my tractor still isn't back from the shop. In fact, it hasn't set foot on my property yet, went straight to dealer to do much of what OP is doing here.

Nice high resolution photos

I'm no mechanic either! I'm new with tractors. :)

Any chance of curving that hydraulic line back inside the body of the tractor?
I hate to see hydraulic lines exposed like that, particularly in the front of the tractor.
Sturdy hoses were put on, just might get overly exciting spraying hydraulic oil on a hot engine if snagged.
Unless it was just the angle of the picture. Maybe put a protective sleeve on it if you can't reposition it.

I'll see what I can do about that hose, everything is so tight, there's not a whole lot of room in that area, as odd as it may seem. But, it's really not hangin out as much as you may think.

What a great thread Mopardude! Read it from start to finish and can't wait to see updates. Great work!

Three years ago bought my Ford in need of considerable repair. I really enjoyed that Winter in my shop working on that tractor. Has turned into a reliable servant. Doubles the personal satisfaction when done by yourself at your own level of competence. Good for a man's Soul. :)

Okay minor update. I took a break for 3 weeks, I was brainstorming on how to rewire and got caught up on over complicating everything. LOL. I kept it simple.

You did a NICE JOB! Very well thought out wiring.

That's impressive!! First class job.
I like to turn my ties around so the sharp cut off edge doesn't cut you the next time you run your hand in there; maybe you can cut them more flush than I can.
Looks like a wiring 101 course, love the made in USA cables and quality connectors.

Beautiful job. What is the wrap you used for those wiring runs? That looks so much better than plastic split loom.

Been following since day one, great work! Watch that hot exhaust looping around near the battery!

Just looks super close in the video. That's a sweet Oliver!

It's just the angle of the video :)

Well I bit the bullet and got some new ones!

Thank you. I am happy with how it turned out. I only used the zip ties to position the wire where I'd like it and I removed them one at a time as I was wrapping the wires. But I have heard of people using those really tiny ones, and leaving them and wrapping right over, which would also work well. :)

Thank you. I use this friction tape by Duck Brand. It seems to work pretty good and provides an OEM type appearance. It only sticks to itself. :)
